With all the excitement surrounding CES 2011 and new releases such as Intel's second generation Core chips like the i5-2500K that Shawn just reviewed, it can be easy to overlook updated revisions of existing products. Towards the end of November, OCZ announced revamped editions of their popular Blade, Platinum and Gold series memory. However between the holidays and upcoming CES this news may have slipped under the radar. Plus it's only been more recently that these versions have even started to show up at online retailers.

The release of P67 hasn't done much in the way of RAM requirements, which for the most part is great. We say for the most part only because the lack of changes means that there's nothing super exciting about RAM on the new platform. With that said, though, there's a change when it comes to JEDEC standard; 1600MHz DDR being the stock minimum clock now and CL9 timings also being the minimum at those speeds. Companies aren't going to have an issue, though, as we've been dealing with speeds well above 1600MHz DDR for a long time now.

Patriot has set a high bar for themselves with this high capacity, high performance Kit, lets take a look and see how it holds up.

Due to Exceleram being quite an unknown brand (especially in the UK) I was quite suprised as to how this set of memory performed in comparison to various other brands with some clear results as one of the better dual channel kits we've had in our office.

Up on the review block today I’ve got another set of DDR3 ram, this time it’s from Patriot and it’s their Viper Xtreme 4gb 1600Mhz kit. I’ve put it up against other 1600Mhz kits and even an 1866 kit as well and it performs very good. The Viper actually outperforms other 1600Mhz kits and comes very close to and even bests the 1866 kit I’ve got. Overall I’m impressed with this ram, it’s some seriously good stuff.

Today we will be looking at the Silicon Power X Power Dual Channel DDR3 2133Mhz Ram Kit. This is available in both dual and triple channel configurations. This is the fastest kit that Silicon Power currently offers and I am excited to see what this baby can do. Follow us as we give the X Power the juice to see how it survives.

Lately we've been producing quite a few RAM reviews. Today it's time for another kit, the Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1866 CL9 to take the challenge. Will it perform on a decent price-performance ratio? Should you buy it? Let's find out!

Up on the review block today I’ve got another set of ram from our friends at OCZ Technology. When it comes to your computer, at least in my opinion, it pays to have the best and OCZ is what you want in your system if you want to have the best performance from it. The ram I have today is a 4gb 1600Mhz kit that features a specialized cooling system called HPC or Heat Pipe Conduit to make sure the ram stays cool and performs well. This cooling system sure makes the ram look visually striking, but it makes it rather large in size. Anyway, let’s get started with the review..
