In the industry of technology, brands offering similar products without innovating will not be easily adopted by the enthusiast market. If we talk about memory, then the mayor factors are frequency, latency and of course... price. Intel specifications for Core i3/i5/i7 products recommend using a maximum DRAM voltage of 1.65v. While most brands try to fit on Intel´s limits on the high side, G.Skill is trying something different. The G.Skill ECO F3 10666CL7D 4GB Dual Channel Kit is intended to run at 1333MHz with barely 1.35 volts benefiting both high-end enthusiasts who want better Overclocks and lower temps, or simply those who want to build an HTPC an every shaved watt can be the difference. G.Skill's PI Series is a performance oriented 6GB DDR3 triple-channel memory kit with a budget price. Sporting 7-8-7-24-2T timings at DDR3-1600 with only 1.5vdimm, this PI Series kit is quite the kit. Check out how this kit scales and see how we had previously reviewed this kit's unknown sibling.
The ARES series is ultimately designed for those who have really large air coolers and need a lower profile heatsink, which is something we don't see a lot of company's offering these days as more and more feel bigger is better. Available in both blue and orange you can see above we're of course got our hand on one of the blue kits which looks great (Ed: and matches the TweakTown color scheme great!).
While the kit does consist of four modules, it's worth knowing that the ARES series at the moment is still only a Dual Channel kit designed for the P67 / Z68 platform along with hopefully the upcoming Z77. With our X79 testbed so close, though, we'll see how the kit fairs in Quad Channel today as well as Dual Channel.
