With an integrated temperature sensor, aggressive heat spreaders, fast clock speed and decent timings, this 2x4GB DDR3 memory has a lot to offer. Crucial designed this 8GB 2000MHz DDR3 CL9 Ballistix kit with enthusiasts who need a lot of fast RAM in mind. Find how how they perform, how they overclock, and how well Crucial's temperature sensor works in our review!

Although it has been many years since VisionTek has produced memory they have recently started selling again with their Performance, High Performance, and Ultimate Performance memory kits. We will be looking at the VisionTek Ultimate Performance 1866MHz 10-10-10-24 (2x4GB) DDR3 system memory kit. Priced competitively at $80 VisionTek is attempting to enter a already crowded market. Benchmark Reviews will see if VisionTek Ultimate Performance memory stands out or just blends in with the rest of the crowd.

Quote: There are a lot of manufacturers of memory modules in the market today, and the majority of them are very similar in terms of speed, performance and of course style. Looking at it, there is only so much you can do with a set of memory modules and that mainly comes down to the colouring and size and shape of the heatspreaders by trying to make them as unique as possible, and hope that the rest takes care of itself.

As a user of 24GB of RAM myself, I can see the use in such a large amount of memory for anything from editing High Definition video personally, to people who want to use VMware. Up until now, though, we really only saw companies offer 16BG kits and if you wanted to make the move to a Z68 platform, massive memory amount options were limited.

QUOTE: "During Computex we saw that Corsair announced that they were expanding the line of Vengeance series with the introduction of the new LP models, or Low Profile. Alongside the introduction of new low profile heatsinks, we saw them expand the color range. Alongside the typical black that we've come to see from most companies, a Blue and White heatsink was also implemented.

Whew, another desktop memory product evaluation. If you have been following our recent articles, you can probably see how big of a challenge it is even for me to write a good introduction for a RAM review. While the opening paragraph for the Patriot Viper Xtreme Division 2 PC3-15000 2x4GB review did not bring about something applicably inspiring by a long shot, let's talk about some facts that came in handy as presented in my Kinsgton HyperX PnP DDR3-1600 2x4GB SODIMM review about a month ago. Recently, my colleague Preston was having a house party, and I was invited over to trash his place. After the party was over, one of the girls did not have her car with her, and since I needed to drive a friend who lives in the same area anyway, I gave her a lift home as well. Upon exiting Preston's neighborhood on the main road, I asked her for directions on how to get to her place -- and much (un)surprisingly, she gave all the wrong instructions; such as telling me to turn left when I was clearly supposed to turn right. Although my friend's claims about how girls are bad at giving directions was quickly disregarded as a stereotype, I presented to the girl some facts about the female brain -- as in, the inferior parietal lobule in the cortex of the brain, responsible for perception of space, time and speed, is significantly smaller in females than males. So while she was not particularly impressed by the facts of life, different people are impressed by different things, right? Well, there are some facts about the G.SKILL Ripjaws-X F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL 2x4GB we are reviewing today that will get people like me impressed. I will agree with the fact that its DDR3-1866 9-10-9-28 specification is not particularly impressive. But what is impressive is the G.SKILL achieved these numbers with only 1.5V. Ahh, facts. Let's waste no time, and keep the rest of them rolling!

Pulling our VisionTek kit out of the package, we instantly notice that we're not dealing with some cheap heatsink which is always a good start. The heatsink itself is quite tall and like most companies who opt for this tall heatsink, it can cause problems with some large coolers, but most of the time you're able to swing those coolers around or opt for the RAM in slots 2 and 4 which sit a little further from the CPU cooler.

Visiontek are a well known brand in North America, having produced some great AMD oriented video cards. A few weeks ago we reviewed their latest 8GB DDR1600mhz kit for Sandybridge which we managed to overclock to a whopping 2133mhz. Today we are looking at their latest 12GB (3x4gb) 1866mhz kit for the X58 platform.

Today we're checking out a Dual Channel kit from the team at Patriot which falls under the Viper Xtreme series. This is one of my favourite series because the heatsink quality is one of the best on the market, and while we're not 100% sure how useful heatsinks are these days, people don't want to buy RAM without them, and who can blame them? We're all shallow.
