The launch of the new X79 platform brings with it the introduction of a new memory standard in the form of "Quad Channel". During our testing, Quad Channel hasn't had the best start as we see some programs have a real issue testing it at the moment. The biggest culprit for that seems to be AIDA64. Considering how active they are, though, I'm sure that we'll see this change soon.

The PC3-19200 kit we've got here from G.Skill kind of completes the circle of RAM from the company. Originally at launch we found ourselves looking at a 16GB PC3-17000 kit , after that we checked out something a little lower end and cheaper in the form of a 16GB PC3-14900 kit. Today we kick it up a couple of notches with the PC3-19200 RipjawsZ kit from G.Skill and before we get into the kit, I want to check out the new package that's present that we're seeing with some of the higher end G.Skill kits.

There is a German student in my power engineering class with a very strong accent. As such, my professor likes to call him 'Germany' in a humorous, good-natured way. One time, he was asked to come to the front of the class match up against another student in deriving a certain equation. "Where are we doing this?" Germany asked aloud. "In the skies of Southern England," I blurted out, albeit somewhat silently, near the back of the room. Whether you like it or not, war and conflict between nations has always been an integral part of human history. Sure, it is terrible -- I am not going to skirt around that question as we live in relative peace here in North America. We can only thank all the people who have put their lives on the line, and continue to do so as I type this paragraph, so that we can enjoy everything we have right now. People in the past had their culture deeply integrated with armed conflicts as well. In ancient Greek mythology, Ares is the god of war and violence. According to Burkert's book "Greek Religion", Ares is a powerful Olympian who is "overwhelming, insatiable in battle, destructive, and man-slaughtering" (1985, p. 169). With G.Skill naming their latest line of RAM after the Greek god of war, are we to expect something that can simply blow the competition out of the water? We took a G.Skill Ares F3-1600C8Q-16GAB 4x4GB DDR3 RAM kit in this morning, and see if it really packs the power to destroy under the hood.

We check out a high-speed 32GB kit from G.Skill that could be perfect for X79 users looking for a large amount of fast RAM.

So lets say you're an enthusiast. Lets say you want to push your rig to the max. You always have the fastest processor and the highest video card(s). However your RAM is a measly 1600MHz or 1866MHz. Lets look at maxing that out with a 2400MHz kit. G.Skill has released a Dual Channel 2400MHz kit which is what we're taking a look at today. The 2400MHz RAM is often only meant for the enthusiast market (and often with an enthusiast price tag) however this 8GB kit comes in under $100. Lets move on to see if this kit is worthy of your enthusiast rig.

This time around we’re taking a look at G.Skill’s TridentX series. Starting at 2133Mhz and going all the way up to 2800Mhz, the TridentX Series is brutally fast. A black and red theme well suited to ASUS’ ROG series or ASRock’s Fatal1ty series, it looks awesome if you’re the kind of person who likes oversized or extreme styling. The kit G.Skill have sent us is the middle of the spectrum; 2400Mhz, yet it’s only CAS 10 – speeds, with high speeds with such low latency this kit promises to be a strong performer. Lets check it out!
