The Soundscience Rockus 3D 2.1 Speaker System from Antec comes with one unique feature: 3Dsst™, which is a suite of DSP algorithms that create a virtual surround sound experience from 2.1 stereo speakers. The subwoofer is rated 100W, and the sattelites 25W; the speaker system packs quite a punch and can be connected easily on optical to our preferred sound sources.
Speakers are a nearly necessary peripheral for your computer, but lots of users for various reasons spend quite a fair bit of money on such systems. We have found that either users buy a fairly cheap pair of speakers (or similar 2.1 system) or they splash out a decent amount of money and buy a full surround 5.1 system. We do as such wonder if there is a market for the more expensive 2.1 speaker systems. When most users think of speakers, we expect they will think of Logitech, or at the very least Creative. Certainly, Antec will be a surprise to most.
Antec are renowned among enthusiast circles for creating some of the finest computer cases and power supplies on the market. Like others in todays climate they are expanding into new territories and have turned their attention to speakers. This isn’t a half hearted attempt however, with a new subsidiary entitled ‘SoundScience’.
Antec created the soundscience subsidiary to distinguish these products from their widely known business model of PC cases and power supplies. Their first audio product from the soundscience brand is the rockus 3D which is a 2.1 system designed to create a virtual 3D sound stage. Introduced at the $249 price point they seem to be going after the higher end 2.1 speaker systems especially designed for PC use.

Antec launched the A.M.P. brand in October 2012 and today we’ll be taking a closer look at their ISO Bluetooth Headphones. Antec claims these headphones will allow ‘you to escape the distraction of everyday noise and immerse yourself into the world of your favorite music, movies, or games’.
So, can Antec hold its own in an already crowded mobile market?
The a.m.p. iso is the flagship of Antec’s mobile headset line, with a full featured headphone amp with active noise cancellation, top tier headphones with dBs1 technology and full featured call functionality. The Antec gain Bluetooth Headphone Amp retains the call functionality, but comes with a 3.5mm jack for using the headset of your choice, meaning that your favorite headset can now be used in a Bluetooth capacity and on calls. Both the gain and the iso use Bluetooth HD for enhanced clarity, while adhering to Handsfree 1.5 and Headset 1.1 profiles to make them compatible with almost any device.
Antec are one most established names in the PC component industry, well regarded for the chassis designs, CPU coolers and of course power supplies, but more recently they've been gaining a new reputation, one for mobile products and while it seems every company ever is bringing out a range of mobile products, Antec's previous attempts stand out a little more than most.
There is no doubt that there is a mobile boom going on and while the current generation consumes mobile devices, there is little sign of the market slowing down any time soon, so it makes sense than companies like Antec would want to get in on the action. So with mobile well covered, high end mobile speakers, Bluetooth headsets and rechargeable USB hubs already ticked off, what about the more straightforward solution that is audio? Well that's exactly what I'll be looking at today with the Antec Mobile Products dBs headphones, a simple enough pair of in-ear headphones.
Priced at around £25.00 from most major online retailers, they're not terribly cheap or expensive, but it's still a fair investment for a set of good quality in-ear headphones. Silver, Grey, Green, Black and Pink editions are available, but the ones were looking at today are a very funky pink.
