I’ve never been a big fan of headsets. Instead, I’ve always tried to use a speaker system whenever possible. After my fourth kid was born a few months ago, however, my home office was converted into a nursery. That meant that my trusty 5.1 surround speaker system that had traveled to Iraq and back with me, was now a set of paperweights. Since then, I’ve become somewhat of an audiophile, seeking the most comfortable headset that produces the highest quality sound for the best price. Recently, Benchmark Reviews received the CM Storm Pulse-R Aluminum Gaming Headset SGH-4330-KATA1 for testing. In this article, I will outline my experience with the CM Storm Pulse-R and show you where it fits in the gaming headset niche.

Following on from the RHA CA-200 Noise isolating headphone review last week, Benchmark Reviews is all set to take a look at the higher priced RHA SA950i On-Ear Portable Headphones from Reid Heath Acoustics. Currently in the market there are countless headset models available from a large number of manufacturers and in several different configurations from plain stereo ones and virtual surround ones (again based on dual drivers) all the way up to real 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound ones that feature up to 8 drivers (4 in each earcup) for the best possible positioning audio both in movies and games. Of course much like most things (especially electronic devices) each model type has a different focus group/audience and so although stereo ones are extremely popular amongst audiophiles, DJ's and professionals in general virtual and real surround sound ones are mostly welcomed by casual and hardcore gamers around the world. However there are also stereo gaming headsets our there for people who belong to neither one of the mentioned groups and just want a cost-effective headset to casually play games and listen to music a job which just might be the right one for the ONDA ST stereo gaming headset by OZONE.

The TDK ST-700 is are above-average headphones, that reproduce a very reasonable sound for what you pay. If you enjoy a relatively warm and smooth sound with solid bass, then these TDK headphones will provide a pleasant listening experience for you.
