Creating the right audio environment is a critical part of enabling an immersive home theater experience, but is often neglected either due to ignorance or the erroneous assumption that good sound is unattainably expensive. The process of finding the right speakers is made even more difficult with few shops providing an adequate listening environment, let alone one with options in an affordable price range. Speaker manufacturer Aperion Audio has a solution for these issues, offering their 150 watt, $550/pair Intimus 4T tower alongside a no-risk thirty day trial with shipping covered both ways, so they can be tested in the actual environment where they will see use.

The prospect of wiring surround or multi-zone loudspeakers is often fraught with difficulty and may be a job best left to someone who can open up walls, fish speaker wire and install a wallplate with wire terminals. Instead of hiring a costly contractor or spending several hours and dollars in parts, Aperion Audio presents the Zona Wireless Speaker System which promises to lift the burden of wires from us. After our positive experience with Aperion Audio’s Intimus 4T speakers, our interest in Aperion Audio’s wireless solution was piqued.

Antec has been a popular brand for high-performance computer components and accessories for the PC upgrade and do-it-yourself (DIY) markets since 1986. Times are certainly changing in the PC industry and many companies are evolving in order to stay relevant. Antec noticed that the market was changing and in 2012 they introduced a new global electronics division called Antec Mobile Products or A.M.P with the goal of putting state of the art mobile and audio technology into the hands of every user. AMP has introduced a number of headsets, USB power banks and even a speaker. Today, we’ll be looking at the AMP SP1 Bluetooth Speaker, which is the companies first and only speaker solution.

Microlab is a dedicated acoustics and computer peripherals producer, and since its formation in 1998 they have solely concentrated on producing high quality speakers. Peter Larsen is their designer and chief consultant. We have high hopes the FC360 will perform well, especially after our positive experiences last year.

I am not a fan of Bluetooth speakers primarily because sound reproduction just didn’t represent what music was supposed to sound like. For this reason, I haven’t reviewed one before today. It is definitely not for lack of opportunity as these are the most popular gadgets seen at any tech event and there are 7-8 of them floating around our office at any given time. I have never been one to write a report on hardware without merit however, so for each my communication return to the companies discussed my concerns and an offer for us to return the product. My first official review of a BT speaker occurs in this report which, in itself, says something for the Bayan Audio Soundbook BT Speaker.

Antec launched the A.M.P. brand in October 2012 and today we’ll be taking a closer look at their ISO Bluetooth Headphones. Antec claims these headphones will allow ‘you to escape the distraction of everyday noise and immerse yourself into the world of your favorite music, movies, or games’.
So, can Antec hold its own in an already crowded mobile market?

The Kraken Pro Analog Gaming Headset was a product that I received after competing in the annual Tiger Direct PC Race. Only after the event was over and all the hoopla from CES calmed down did we decide that the Kraken Pro was one of the products we received that we legitimately wanted to review. Razer has a history of making wild claims regarding PC products, i.e. The Razer Blade: The World’s First Gaming Laptop or the Razer Edge Pro: The World’s First Gaming Tablet but with the Kraken Pro they are making a claim based on one of the most subjective topics in product reviews…comfort. The Kraken Pro has a lot to live up to, especially when you make a claim like that, so let’s see how it holds up.

Perhaps one of the candidates for the most popular headphones of all time could be the Sennheiser HD-25′s which were first released in 1988 and can still be found today, although in a more contemporary design. Many would claim these to be the most likely runaway winner and, if popularity alone through time is any indication, we would have to agree. Sennheiser has now released the successor to the HD-25 in the HD-8 DJ and, if you are a media professional who spends hours on end with a set of headphones on your head, these definitely merit a close look. A word to the wise though, the HD-8 DJs forge new ideas on just what professional headphones should be, no doubt the years of advise provided DJ’s and studio professionals.

Bose established back in 1964 by Dr. Amar G. Bose, who was a professor of electrical
engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Their first product was their 901
Direct / Reflecting speaker system.
Back in 2013 - we have received their Bose QuietComfort 15 headset, where the primary
focus areas are comfort and good sound. Lets see if Mr. Bose managed to do that with the
QuietComfort 15 headset.
