Razer is one of the oldest manufacturer of Sound Cards. Some of you may remember the
good old Sound Blaster 1 . The product we will review here is the new Creative Sound
Blaster ZxR Sound Card.

Creative has recently launched their latest ZxR Sound Blaster flagship which features a more simplified software interface and the hardware is divided in two components, one being the main card and the other DBpro daughter board which is able to offer optical output for outstanding audio playback along with professional-grade ADCs with RCA Aux-in and optical inputs. The solid ACM (Audio Control Module) gives us access to MIC/headphone connectors in both 3.5mm and ¼’’ formats, but also a built-in microphone array along with a large volume control dial

That being said, today we’ll be reviewing the Creative Sound Blaster ZxR, which is the flagship soundcard in the Sound Blaster Z series of soundcards. Now a couple months ago, we reviewed the Sound Blaster Z, which is a fantastic soundcard that offered a good balance between sound quality and price, but it’s merely the entry level soundcard in the Sound Blaster Z...

For some time, we’ve shared our underwhelming experiences with sound cards and headsets with integrated audio processors that featured virtual surround sound. Positional audio is a desirable and much wanted feature gamers want, but obtaining a set of 5.1 or 7.1 speakers may be neither reasonably priced nor practical for some people. Unfortunately for headphone users, it is an unattainable challenge to recreate the sound of six or eight speakers on just two speakers. However, some implementations are better than others and we listened to the few audio recordings on the internet that gave us the opportunity to listen to those implementations we previously were not able to experience. We got our hands on the Creative Sound Blaster Z and Zx Sound Cards and thoroughly explored their capabilities!

Today on our test bench we have the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD, the latest high end soundcard from Creative which sets out to be the best audio card available for consumers. Aimed at audiophiles and featuring top of the range components with specifications such as the best signal to noise ratio Creative has ever achieved we will find out if this is the must have sound card of the moment.

It seems like Creative is following the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mantra for their latest Tactic 3D lineup of gaming headsets. For a company with a name that literally implies innovation, this comes across as a little strange for me. In fact, the headsets in the Tactic 3D lineup look so similar that when Creative sent me the Tactic 3D Rage to review I had to double check the box to make...
