Having started to create multimedia speakers for PC systems in Germany many years ago, Wavemaster is a relatively new brand to UK consumers – but they are aiming to make a splash with a series of headphone and speaker launches in 2013. We have been sent a set of Wavemaster Stax speakers – aimed squarely at the entry level 2.1 market that has been dominated for many years by brands like Logitech and Creative.

Gigabyte is not known for their audio product, but that's mostly because they've never really dived into that part of the market. Gigabyte is a brand I'm sure most of you are more than familiar with and have earned them selves on of the best reputations in the industry for high performance PC motherboards, not to mention some of the most popular budget friendly motherboards too.
Gigabyte is no stranger to the world of peripherals though and products like the Krypton mouse have already proven themselves to be some of my favourite gaming mice on the market, which proved to me that Gigabyte is more than capable of making things out side of the motherboard market. Yet other than two pairs of fairly standard PC desktop speakers, audio is a new area for them and it will be interesting to see what they have to offer.
Priced at around $50 they are not overly expensive, a suitable price range for your average consumer and so long as they have decent performance and style they could be an interesting contender for this section of the market.

The UE Boom from Logitech boasts an impressively hip advertising campaign and a promise to make music more "social" again. But past all of the buzzwords and pretty packaging, is this cylindrical speaker worth all of the hype? We take a close look... and can't help but be blown away.

Inside June we received over a dozen of emails by some readers asking about which portable speaker we think it would be best for them to purchase in order to accompany them in their summer vacations. Now of course some of you asked about portable speakers with superior audio quality and plenty of volume while others chose to ask for something really small in both size and weight with good battery life. As you all know the answer is not a simple one and normally large portable speakers produce better and more powerful audio compared to smaller ones while at the same time they also feature larger rechargeable battery packs. If however there's one thing I’ve learned over the years using and testing countless electronics is that there are always exceptions (never say never basically) and the Cube high performance portable speaker by NuForce seems to have what it takes to be part of that small club.

Although the trend of our times demands from pretty much every electronic device to be connected wirelessly to others i doubt we will see the end of wires any time soon since as we all know they do allow data (regardless of type) to be transferred better and faster. This is even more important to audiophiles since audio streaming using both Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi connections is indeed inferior to that of regular wired connections and thus i don't think the day when they will choose to replace that is near. Needless to say the same applies for earphones but with the current number of available models in the market from low and up to enthusiast grade ones choosing the right one for you is not an easy task even if you know what you want. Naturally high and enthusiast level audio products always tend to cost many times more than low/mid-end ones but fortunately Nuforce with their latest NE-700M earset aims to change that for the best.

Cooler Master have decided to kick things up a notch with their gaming brand CM Storm. Not content with following the trend of high quality mid range peripherals they've decided to make an all new, high performance, premium range of products. This new range features customisable aluminium panels and we will be bringing you reviews of the full range over the next couple of weeks.
We start today with the Pulse-R headset, a PC gaming headset that packs plenty of high end features and hopefully plenty of high end performance. The price is set at around £70 and that puts it along side some truly fierce competition from Steelseries, Razer, Sennheiser, Logitech and Turtle Beach to name but a few. All those brands make some amazing product for this kind of money and CM Storm are going to have to not only match their performance, but also offer something extra to make them stand out from the crowd.
We've had good fortunes with CM Storm products in the past, with their headsets, mice, keyboards and other products winning many awards from us here at eTeknix, so were expecting a good performance today. So let's get right into the good stuff and see what the Pulse-R has to offer, then put it all to the test.
