SanDisk is a long time competitor in the consumer flash drive and portable media player market, with most of their life spent with producing and developing flash memory based devices. Today we'll have a look at the new iteration of the Sansa Fuze player from SanDisk called the Sansa Fuze+ (plus) with its updated design, new User Interface and updated codec support. Can the Sansa Fuze+ from SanDisk bring to market everything you're looking for in a portable media player? Read on and we'll see.

Summer is almost upon us people so i expect that it won’t be long now before most of you storm the beaches around the world (like some friends of ours I’m guessing some of you already have) so just like pretty much everyone we know you're probably looking for ways to make your time there more pleasant and carefree. Now there are plenty of things one can bring along while at the beach but there are only two devices which happen to be at the top of the list especially amongst teenagers (not including smartphones obviously). So according to what we hear from friends and family, even from some of you via emails and FB messages the number one gadget people consider bringing along is a portable battery pack (PowerBank) followed very closely by a compact wireless speaker. A couple of our readers even mentioned large Boombox stereo speakers which is somewhat funny since back in the day that was our number one to bring toy when at the beach and why not even a guitar if someone knew how to play (smartphones were in their infancy back then). Times however change and now with the help of smartphones tiny portable speakers have effectively all but replaced the many times larger Boombox stereo speakers and so today we'll be taking a thorough look at the latest Solemate Mini Portable Wireless Speaker by Jabra.
After having used and tested a whole bunch of portable speakers over the past few years last month we received the NuForce Cube High Performance Portable Speaker which ended up blowing our minds since thanks to its size/volume/clarity combo it's probably (we can never be 100% certain with the amount of portable speakers in the market) the best such gadget one can get in the market currently. However the electronics industry is a place filled with surprises (mostly pleasant ones) so just a week ago we started using/testing another pair of portable speakers sized almost the same as the NuForce Cube and also without featuring Bluetooth connectivity. Instead they pack 4GB of internal memory allowing the end user to store and playback a large number of his/hers music collection without having to connect them to a source. I first started paying extra attention to speaker systems back in 1998 when i received the DVD-ROM/MPEG Decoder card bundle by Creative labs called the Encore DXR2 which back then was pretty much the best and perhaps only way for someone to watch DVD's with the highest possible A/V quality. Of course it goes without saying that i matched the Encore DXR2 bundle with the only mid-end 5.1 Dolby surround compatible speaker set i could find for just under $400 (i think it was manufactured by TEAC). Since then however although I’ve used and tested several 5.1/7.1 Dolby/DTS surround sets from various manufacturers like SONY, Yamaha, Tannoy, Klipsch, Crystal Audio and Logitech i have to admit that not many 2/2.1 speaker sets have made it into my house and/or my lab (the only ones i can recall reached my lab just over a year ago and were manufactured by Scythe and Sandberg). Today we are going to take a look at a dual speaker set manufactured by Audyssey, a company which may not be well-known by most of you but according to several professionals around the world they are considered to be amongst the best at what they do right next to legendary manufacturers like BOSE.
Up for review today I have the TouchTone Bluetooth speaker from Id America which features touch sensitive controls, hence the word touch in the name. The TouchTone is wireless over Bluetooth but it also has a line-in that uses a standard audio connector so you can even use it with non Bluetooth devices. The TouchTone can put out of total of four watts from the two speakers and that might not sound like much, but it is, this thing can get very loud but yet there’s very minimal distortion.
