Sound is one of the most overlooked areas of PC enthusiast-dom. It’s not as exciting as overclocking your GPU and it’s difficult to measure the quality. That said, getting yourself a good set of speakers/headphones can make a big difference to your media viewing and game playing, but the price can be a difficult barrier.

The Microlab H21 2.1 is one of Microlab’s latest sound products available in its growing arsenal of sound systems. The H21 2.1 is within Microlab’s Bluetooth catalogue range and comes in a variety of colours which are all tanned and enclose the inner-subs.

Microlab is a dedicated acoustics and computer peripherals producer, and since its formation in 1998 they have solely concentrated on producing high quality speakers. Peter Larsen is their designer and chief consultant. We have high hopes the FC360 will perform well, especially after our positive experiences last year.

Microlab have been around a long time but are still a relative unknown under that name, although there is a good chance you have heard Microlab products at work, not to long ago in what many would consider Creative Audios height of sound reproduction quality the speakers you would find in those systems were more often than not made by Microlab

Today for review I’ve got a pair of headphones or earbuds from a company called Meze and they’re called the 11 Classics and what makes these special I think is the fact that they’re made of wood. The majority of headphones on market are plastic with some made of metal but not many from wood. I’m not sure why you don’t see more headphones made from wood. Take a look at speakers, the best ones are made from wood and they produce the best sound, so why don’t we see more wood headphones if we know that wood gives us a better sound overall? I don’t know the answer to that, but I do know the headphones I have for review today are very much worth a look if you appreciate good sound from your music. The Meze 11 Classics are priced at about $80 and that’s not overly expensive but it’s not exactly inexpensive either, I guess it depends on what you consider expensive or not. The headphones do come with a nice carrying case and I have to say that they are quality made overall. So read on…

As desirable as placing an audio video receiver (AVR) or amplifier and full set of speakers at each point of media consumption would be, it is impractical from a cost and aesthetic perspective. With the convenience of wired and wireless audio support alongside medium density fiberboard (MDF) construction, the MANHATTAN 2800 Acoustic Series Bluetooth Bookshelf Speaker System promises to deliver value and flexibility in the crowded segment of PC-style amplified stereo speakers.

Today I have something a little more fun in the office, the MadCatz F.R.E.Q.5 Red Edition. We've already taken a look at the F.R.E.Q.5 headset before, which you can check out here. Fundamentally this is still the same headset and not a lot has changed with the headset itself, but let's see if we can improve on the first F.R.E.Q.5 review anyway.

Before current generation consoles were even conceived, PC gamers and enthusiasts have been able to enjoy the benefits that headsets offer. In recent years XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 users are now also able to enjoy those same benefits. Today Benchmark Reviews will be taking a look at the TRITTON Pro+ True 5.1 Surround Sound Headset from Mad Catz. The TRITTON Pro+ is compatible with PlayStation 3, XBOX 360 and PC (Europe) via an optional cable. The TRITTON Pro+ boasts true Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound via eight individual drivers - four in each earcup (Front, Center, Surround, Subwoofer) - each with independent volume control. Visually speaking there isn't much that separates the Pro+ from the rest of the TRITTON range of headsets; it's all about what's inside, so let's find out more...
