Although smartphones have advanced quite a bit over the past few years and have reached a point where some models are one and the same as a tablet in terms of size there's one peripheral that follows suit in terms of technological advancement, Bluetooth wireless headsets. Of course instead of increasing their size (which would be quite easy actually) scientists around the world do their best to shrink those devices so they are easier to carry and use. However what i really enjoy is the latest trend which has many Bluetooth wireless headsets accompanied by carrying cases that double as portable battery packs providing enough juice for up to 5 full recharge cycles. Now this may sound as a bit overkill to some people (perhaps even useless) but such battery packs make it very simple for you to have a Bluetooth wireless headset in your backpack or in your cars glove compartment at all times without worrying that the battery may die out (once i left the Plantronics Voyager Legend UC in my backpack for 5 weeks and it still was full on battery when i used it). The STONE line of Bluetooth wireless headsets by Jabra dates back to 2009 and it was amongst the very first to feature a portable battery for recharging while on the road. Well 4 years later and after the launch of the quite successful STONE2 roughly 2 years ago Jabra is releasing the STONE3.
At the time i was writing these lines Paul Walker the actor we all learned and loved from the Fast movies died at the age of 40 after a very tragic car crash involving a red Porsche GT driven by one of his friends. We are well aware that this is not something that has to do with a technology related site but we are all humans above all else so we would just like to extend our condolences to his family and close friends, he will be missed by millions around the world that's for certain. Moving back to today’s review i think we all know the importance of having a good quality headset when watching your favorite movies, playing your favorite games and listening to your favorite tunes. However most of the time really good headsets that deliver high audio clarity cost quite a bit but thanks to SteelSeries and their latest H line of headsets featuring their brand new tournament grade audio driver technology this may change for the best. Today on our test bench we have the 2nd best model in the new H line and more specifically the 5HV3 Gaming Headset.
With summer just around the corner how many of you will storm online and retail stores alike to find a suitable portable wireless speaker for use when at the beach (or at the pool) so you can listen to all your favorite tunes from your smartphones? Personally i use wireless portable speakers a lot when I’m at the beach in the summer especially if there are many friends around so i really do think that such devices can be quite useful as long as you can find the right one to cover your needs. So currently in the market we have the usual Bluetooth enabled wireless speakers that require to be paired with a smartphone or tablet and NFA (Near Field Audio) wireless speakers that just require for the smartphone to be placed right next to the NFA sensor (the sensor location is always listed in the user’s manual). Now obviously each type has its advantages and disadvantages but it's worth mentioning that both also offer wired 3.5mm mini plug connections (most models) which can be used by people who don't want to use the extra battery required by Bluetooth connections or people who prefer the more classic way. One such device is with us today and more specifically the Boombero NFA Wireless Speaker by Oregon Scientific.

The headset its self packs some nice specifications, the model we are looking at today is the Diamond Black edition, although it is also available in white. Connectivity is provided by 3.5mm and USB, which can go to both mobile or PC. 40mm drivers, 3.0 meter cable, in-line controller and noise cancelling technology to name but a few. So enough of the specifications, lets take a closer look at what the Level 10M has to offer.
Don’t you hate it when your headphones or earphones get all tangled together? I know I hate it with a passion and many companies have come out with anti tangle style cords but nothing comes close to what I have to show you today. The earphones for review today are called Zippit and they’re from a company called Thumbs Up and what makes them unique is a zipper that connects the right and left sides of the cords together. We all know that MP3/4 players, tablets, cellular phones and basically pretty much every portable device that is capable of reproducing media files comes with earphones bundled in the same box (even tape/CD/MD players had one) which are just but basic/low-cost pairs. For good or bad to most people that specific pair will be more than just enough (especially since it comes at almost no cost) but audio enthusiasts and generally people who always want the best they can afford will certainly search the market for something better with the name of one of the well-known manufacturers in the field such as Sennheiser, Sony and others. Honestly that was also the path i used to take up to around 5-6 years ago but after having tested many earphones by quite a few of the lesser known manufacturers i no longer pay much attention on brand names but rather on the product itself. Thinksound is one such manufacturer and ever since i received and tested their TS02+Mic earset roughly two years ago i consider them to be amongst the very few manufacturers that actually hit the sweet spot between audio quality and price without sacrificing build quality, quite the opposite actually. So for the past month we've been testing their brand new MS01 8mm in-ear monitor with passive noise isolation to see if it walks on the same successful path as the TS02+Mic.
The gaming headset market is flooded but conventional wisdom has always been that if you want quality sound and a comfortable fit you are going to have to pay a little bit more for it. Today, however, we review an introductory model from Cooler Master that promises all the performance and comfort you’d expect in a mid-range headset at a price tag of under $30. The Ceres 300 is a follow-up to the Ceres 400 and comes with a more streamlined look and feel. Everything you’d expect to see in a head twice the price seems present but we will put it to the test to see if the Ceres 300 is truly worthy of praise.
