We all know Corsair as one of the biggest players in the memory and power supply markets, but over the past year they have made huge strides in the peripheral industry with an influx of products spanning across keyboards, mice, headsets and of course audio speaker systems.
Since the release of the HS1 we have seen Corsair return to their roots with the release of a new DDR3 brand, Vengeance, while working away in the background on a selection of audio products. The first of those new audio products launches today in the form of the SP2500, a 2.1 desktop speaker system. Corsair's entry into the PC speaker market has exceeded my expectations of what a 2.1 system can do. It's evident from the build quality and high-end components that a lot of forethought was put into this product, and the end result is exceptional sound that raises the bar for every other speaker set in this price range.
There is no point pairing up such an impressive set of speakers with a simple onboard sound solution, so for this review we are testing these speakers in conjunction with one of the finest sound cards on the market – the Asus Xonar Essence STX.
