The Samsung UN55D8000 delivers exceptional performance in all categories from looks, features, power consumption and picture quality. Some may argue there are some color uniformity issues but in my eyes that was not a problem. The design is stunning with the minimalistic bezel making the TV look like all picture. The life-like picture quality was great with accurate colors and the 3D processing seems to have taken a huge leap in the right direction. The SMART HUB offers a ton of great widgets with the Web Browser being my favourite thanks to the fully functional QWERTY keyboard remote.

More, and more companies however don’t seem to share the “3D is not worth it” opinion, and have increased their support for the 3D market. Is this a wise choice, or are these companies destined to write off their time, and efforts into 3D as a lost? That we can’t answer as time will tell. We can however tell you how the Asus VG278H stacks up not only as a 3D display option, but as display which boosts 120hz in 1080p with a 2ms refresh rate all with sporting a 27in screen. So enough chit chat lets get to it.

The market for PC monitors is dominated by very similar-looking designs, but once in a while a new display will come out that stands out against the crowd. Philips, for example, has its Blade series which are thin screens with an elegant design. We are witnessing more and more IPS- and VA-based panels being used in computer monitors, but the majority still feature the traditional TN panel. Philips is now part of the growing trend of non-TN panels, with the launch of the Blade 2.

Samsung's PN64E8000 Plasma Smart TV can be summed up as an easy purchase for the consumer that has the upgraded budget and is smart enough to see that with this one purchase you don't only get an upgradable fantastic livingroom display, but also a trimmed down home theater pc. Add on the additional features like voice and motion control, webcam, future processor upgrades, SMART TV functionality, WIFI, Samsung APPS, Games (Angry Birds) and the difference in price seems to dwindle to an investment that over time will be boiled down to a difference of mere pennies a day.

The ASUS PB278Q is a very stylish WQHD monitor. The colour fidelity is great even with factory settings, and the monitor has a very high contrast and brightness. When you enable overdrive, the response times are good enough for gaming. The energy consumption is low and the features are fairly complete, even if we would have liked to have a USB 3.0 hub. The features that ASUS did add are useful particularly for graphic designers.

Earlier in the year we had a chance to have a look at the LED 42" TV from OHKI and it did a good job at impressing us. It managed to put a tick in the right boxes when it came to people who wanted a TV that could offer us a good quality picture in a slim LED Lit format at a really good price.
