The Choiix Power Fort is a very handy device, and with seemingly infinite battery life as a flashlight (70 hours per charge, and 500 charges before it only charges up to ~85% means about 35,000 hours of flashlight time) it is simply a great buy. Even at its steep $49.99 price tag for the standard models I have to say the Choiix Power Fort is well worth the money, and if you travel frequently I would have to consider it a necessity.

The PD-100N housing provides two USB ports, HDMI, optical out, and the old-school RCA video and stereo audio connections. The design is functional save for the spacing between the two USB ports on the front when coupled with the PDW-10N wireless adapter. This dongle is so large that it can overshadow the other port. For typical USB cables it's not that big of a problem, but forget about plugging in a flash drive when the wireless adapter is attached.

If we're lucky, we can control the fans via software such as SpeedFan, otherwise the hum of high speed performance-orientated fans is permanent.

Today we have for review the QNAP NMP-1000P universal media player device. If this sounds and looks familiar, it's because we have previously reviewed its predecessor, the QNAP NMP-1000 which was a very capable media player that could play a wealth of formats. Tim’s main points of argument were the cost and size of the player. While neither of those changed with this revision, there were a couple of items that have changed which make this an even more attractive unit. As you may expect, this NMP-1000P from QNAP is on our Media Player Comparison Guide if you would like to compare with other players on the market. As it is one of the highest end players available, we will look to see if the $400+ retail price is appropriate and worthy of your hard earned dollars.
