Using a touchscreen is something we are used to with our mobile phones and tablets but it really has not translated to the desktop all that well. Yes there have been all-in-one touchscreen systems, but for the most part they have been clunky and Windows 7 really is not made for a touchscreen. This all changes with Windows 8. The Metro interface in Windows 8 is more or less designed to be used with a touchscreen device. Today we are checking out Lenovo’s flagship all-in-one and their largest as well with a 27-inch touchscreen display. The IdeaCentre A720 features a very sleek and thin design, NVIDIA GeForce Graphics, a TV tuner, HDMI in and out, WiFi, Bluetooth and much more. Read on as we have some fun and check out this system.

We have so many devices that we access data from these days. It is not just our computer anymore. Many people are using their smartphone or tablet as their only device for computing. While these devices can do what many people want them do they are limited at how much storage space they actually have. Wireless storage is nothing new, network attached storage devices have been out for quite a long time, but they also lack one thing…portability. This is where Patriot’s Gauntlet Node Wireless Enclosure comes in. This enclosure supports 2.5-inch hard drives, is small enough to take with you, has its own power source and allows you to stream content to up to 8 different devices wirelessly. Read on and to see if this is the device you need at add to your mobile arsenal.

Out of the three EnGenius routers, the compact ESR-300H made the best impression on us. If you have no use for a router that supports 5 GHz, like if you don't own any devices that are compatible with that frequency, then it's a worthy option. However, its average price of £60 is eerily close to that of a number of quite good dual-band routers from other brands, for example the Edimax BR-6675nD. The VPN server on the ESR-300H could have put that model on top, were it not for the slow 100 Mbit ports.

The DS213air proves that Synology is capable of creating great software and features, but the decision to use a very limited 2.4 GHz 150 Mbit WiFi adapter unfortunately has a negative impact on the wireless performance. Having a more affordable DS212j along with an affordable router or extra access point is a much better way of having this type of capability.

As router, the Netgear WNDR4700 certainly managed to convince us of its right to exist. Its performance is outstanding, and it can even hold its own with the best high-end routers on the market. Adding an internal hard disk to the mix is not a bad idea in our opinion. However, in the case of the WNDR4700 it's mainly useful for making back-ups, which is a breeze with the excellent ReadyShare Vault software. The transfer rates to and from the internal disk inside the WNDR4700 are good, but the speed of the USB 3.0 ports are very close which almost makes it pointless to put a hard disk inside. On the other hand, now you have multiple fast connections you can use any way you want. The SD card reader is also a nice bonus.
