Shift was a classic title, I played it for months. For me this is a big deal as I find most racing games about as appealing as putting my hand in a blender. Shift 2 is a great game, which I had a blast reviewing over the last week.

DarkSpore is not about cute creatures and falling in love. There is no evolving from a single cell organism to a cool and level headed ruler of the galaxy. Darkspore is a science fiction role playing game with no real connection to the original game which was such a huge success for Electronic Arts. Spore was a very original game which appealed to both kids and grandmothers, but this latest offering is certainly aimed at a specific audience.

Epic Games and shooters go together like few other combinations in the gaming industry. Even when Epic aren't releasing shooting games directly themselves, their Unreal Engine technology is delivering the framework necessary to create usually very good shooting games for other developers and publishers to slap their logo on.

One of the most loved games on the PS2 and Dreamcast system was Rez. Re-released recently on Xbox Live arcade, Rez was one of the first games to try and combine the rhythm of music with the interactivity of gaming and it became a massive commercial hit. For years gamers have clamoured for Mizuguchi to create a sequel to Rez, but he never has. Possibly because the system it was born on, the Dreamcast, was not a successful console.

At its core F.E.A.R 3 is a modern day first person shooter so all of the key ingredients are here, the ability to carry multiple weapons, including two of the same type for dual handed attacks, we can zoom to target and health regenerates when we seek cover. Day 1 have however retained some of the key aspects of the original title which ensure that this feels like a F.E.A.R title, the main thing being the ability to slow time while attacking which allows us to target and attack multiple enemies more successfully in dangerous situations.

While some games allow us to play with a controller or Kinect Rise of Nightmares very much pushes us down the latter route, Kinect is a requirement and everything within the game relies on it including the menu's and loading screen interactivity. Upon selecting our difficulty level we are thrown into a mini-tutorial mission based around two characters with terrible French accents. This mission fills us in nicely on the control method and sets the scene well for what we can expect from the game.

Capcom are back, not with a sequel but a low cost stand-alone expansion of the Dead Rising 2 universe and in it the original character from Dead Rising, Frank West returns. Down on his luck and desperate to turn things round we find ourselves trapped in a zombie infested city with 74 hours until rescue, a crime to solve and that's before we even consider our need for antidote against our own infection...

At Benchmark reviews, we thought it might be interesting to offer a light hearted article on the new PC version FPS/RPG hybrid game RAGE, from id software, the creators of DOOM. I've played a lot of PC games since I started using computers. I'm not saying I'm a "gamer," because I'm not. But, I have a good feel for how games have matured since DOOM, which was my first PC game. I've been luke warm with the entire genre of FPSs, MMOGs, and RTSs for a long time, with few exceptions. RAGE is one of those exceptions. Aside from video driver troubles early on, RAGE has a lot to offer and seems like a game inside of a game, inside of a game. This isn't a review, but more of a personal musing on the game itself. So, take off your armor and come on in for some fun...
