This week I have been spending time with the much anticipated Assassin's Creed III, the latest free-roaming AAA title from Ubisoft. Now I'm a big fan of the original two Assassin's Creed games, although I will admin I haven't played any of the in-between games such as Brotherhood or Revelations. It's hard to keep track though, as there are many Assassin's Creed stories within the franchise (click here to see what I mean). I've been looking forward to this title since before I even knew it existed and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
We don’t often review games on the handheld consoles because most of them aren’t really relevant to our audience. We are willing to make exceptions however and today we have one of the finest games released on Sony’s PSP up for review. Developer Sony Bend have released a modern day classic which hits the mark and will go down in the annals of history as one of the finest PSP games ever made.
2010 has been a fantastic year for gaming, that is undeniable. From reading the first part of our year in review it's clear for all to see that 2010 has brought us some of the best games ever released, on all platforms. Not every game released has gone on to become an instant success though and this year has thrown up a number of titles which underachieved rather drastically. Yep, there have been some absolute shockers over the past 12 months, even games which had all the ingredients to be brilliant failed to deliver the goods.

With the success of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series it is easy to forget that they have another widely successful stealth-action series up their sleeve. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell has been around since 2002 when it caught our attention with those ever recognizable glowing green trifocals. While the series hasn’t had the annual release attention since 2006, Ubisoft Montreal still kept the series strong with the release of Splinter Cell: Conviction and this year Ubisoft Toronto take the reins with Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Promising to deliver the same stealth-action we’ve come to enjoy, it is time to take a look at the latest installment in the Splinter Cell series.
What a difference a beard makes... Seriously. The promotional material for Splinter Cell: Conviction saw pictures of a bedraggled Sam Fisher plastered everywhere just to let us know that things had changed. Its the classic movie convention - clean cut equals a by the book good guy, stubble equals either a bad guy or a good guy with a tendency to make up the rules as he goes along but the full beard is the uniform of a broken man.

Dead Rising is a funny series. First released exclusively on the Xbox 360, many gamers and possibly even Capcom were unaware as to how successful the series would be. Last year Capcom released Case Zero for Xbox Live Arcade. This served as an introduction to the Dead Rising 2 universe and for five bucks gave you a few hours of good gaming. After the success of Dead Rising 2, Capcom announced they wanted to bring Frank West, the original protagonist, back, and so Case West was born; a game where the storylines of DR1 and DR2 meet. Again, it's on Xbox Live Arcade, but this time for ten bucks. We have mixed feelings about whether the extra five bucks is worth it or not.

From the moment the title is fired up it sucks the player into an interactive cinematic experience and it is as visually stunning as it is immersive. While the opening mission is reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid 2 intro it doesn't have the same overblown and bloated style.
