Dabei soll der Ego-Shooter mit starken Multiplayer-Allüren aber nicht nur grundsätzlich überzeugen, sondern auch die langanhaltende Genre-Dominanz von „Call of Duty“ brechen. For months now anticipation has been building amongst first person shooter fanatics as the release of this year's two main military based games approached. Just two weeks apart Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are being launched and it is fair to say that the proximity of the launches has had at least one of the developers scrambling to get their game out first.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was a great benchmark. The built-in benchmark gave us a fantastic idea of what's going on with performance under the game and while performance has always been quite strong, the game looked fantastic as well. The other benefit was it included PhysX support which gave us a good idea of how PhysX would impact performance. Outside of all that, though, one of the best things about Batman: AA was the simple fact it was a really good game. It's one of the few super hero games in recent years that offered a fantastic story and the dark setting behind it all made for a really enticing experience.
A patch for Batman: Arkham City PC was released this week that fixed a variety of DX 11 issues, as well as fixes for a few other non-DX 11 related issues. The DX 11 fixes significantly improved DirectX 11 performance on both NVIDIA and AMD video cards, so we took the four Radeon HD and GeForce GTX cards that we tested before the patch came out and ran them again after the patch. We will analyse multiple setups to suit all ranges of investment, from a wallet busting dual 295 GTX quad sli configuration to a much more affordable 250 GTS with 9400 GT. You don't need to spend a fortune to enjoy Batman: Arkham Asylum, but you certainly can get benefits from more than one video card if you research carefully. While this seems a little overkill for just one game, with high profile physX based games such as Dark Void by Capcom due out in the near future there may be no better time to pick yourself up another Nvidia card.
This week I finally managed to find time for the sequel to one of my all time favourite games, Batman Arkham Asylum, the multi million selling Batman Arkham City. Sure this game has been with us for quite some time now, but its popularity seems to have diminished none, not to mention we have the latest re-release of it on the Wii U, GOTY editions, Armoured Editions and a tonne of DLC that has kept the title selling well since its initial release just over 12 months ago.
