In our first blog about Cataclysm we provided an overview of WoW and took a look at some of the new features we can expect from the expansion. In this entry we'll be taking a closer look at the new races that will be made available to play in Cataclysm, the Worgen and the Goblins. We'll look at what these new races bring to their respective factions (Alliance and Horde) and the how Blizzards are introducing these races to us in their starting area storylines.

In our last post about Cataclysm we took a look at the starting experience for the new races being introduced, the Worgen and the Goblin. This time we'll be taking a look at the first two levelling zones that Blizzard has provided the level 80 players who want to get started on the road to 85. In addition to that we will also look at the refresh of the Talent Tree system which is receiving an overhaul in the latest expansion.

With LittleBigPlanet, Media Molecule showed the power of the PlayStation 3 console. For years Sony had told us that the PS3 system is incredibly powerful and will offer unique experiences, but it was not until LittleBigPlanet was shown that people saw something rather unique only available on the system. However, it was not without its problems. Many people did not like the floaty platforming plus the tools really only allowed platform style games and sequences to be made. Media Molecule went back to the drawing board and came up with LittleBigPlanet 2; a game that not only continues the style of the first game well, but adds so many options and tools that it is potentially the first truly 'must try' game of 2011.

The Marvel vs. Capcom series is widely lauded as one of, if not the best fighting game series around, and it's not hard to see why. Offering familiar characters from some of the most famous Marvel comics as well as the most intense and over the top fighting action in the gaming world today, it has defined itself as a niche product in what many already consider a niche genre. So when Capcom decided that it was time for the third iteration, we were interested, especially after the smash hit Street Fighter IV. And it looks like it has been worth the decade or so wait since the last game with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 offering intense fighting action, whilst offering some new options for novice gamers.

The folks at EA seem to be milking the Need for Speed series for all it's worth lately. Shift 2: Unleashed is touted as the most realistic racing simulation to date. This title absolutely lives up to that hype, but not without it's quirks. Gentlemen, start your engines...

If, like me, you are old enough then you may remember playing Mortal Kombat in the arcades almost 20 years ago. It was a game which attracted the young male audience, because it featured plenty of gore and death moves. The ninth game (yes, count ‘em) has just been released and this time, they really are playing hard ball.

It was yesterday morning that I first read about the latest indi title to be hitting up the forums of the inter-tubes, generating a similar sort of underground buzz to that of Minecraft. Kotaku had an article on it, describing how in Project Zomboid (a name that I’m still struggling to speak out loud in a serious fashion) the writer had died from burning some soup. Ha, what a noob I thought, and fired off an email to the creators, requesting a code to give the game a try. Being the high powered, executive journalist type that I am, (of course) they were nice enough to oblige me.
