One of the more fun parts of Gadget Show Live 2011 this year was playing some of the latest games. Here’s us in action checking out two of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2011; Duke Nuke’m Forever and Gears of War 3.
Crysis was an epic game, and whether you loved or loathed it, for many years it became a ‘ benchmark’ for PC gaming, and opened many debates along the lines of ‘yes,but how well can you run Crysis?’. I liked the original – it was fun, it was entertaining, and with the ludicrous hardware demand it became a personal goal of mine to get it running well at high settings on my 1080p plasma TV. The followup? well Crysis 2 is a very different kettle of fish.

Sapphire have decided to re-release two of AMD’s last generation range of cards – the HD5830 and HD5850, but this time around they are offering them with a modified cooler and heavily reduced pricing. When we say heavily reduced, we really do mean it. The HD5850 ‘Xtreme’ has been reduced from an original price of £250 to £99 inc vat and the HD5830 ‘Xtreme’ from £200 to £80 inc vat.

Plants VS. Zombies has been around for a couple of years now. It was game of the year in 2009 and has gone onto be a hit game on a wide range of platforms including iOS, PC, Mac, Nintendo DS and others. It is one of the few games that I have come across, that doesn't seem to have any negative reviews on the App Store, all anyone seems to do is praise it and say how "amazing and fabulous" it is. Let's see if it's really all it's cracked up to be!
Shift was a classic title, I played it for months. For me this is a big deal as I find most racing games about as appealing as putting my hand in a blender. Shift 2 is a great game, which I had a blast reviewing over the last week.
Last year Electronic Arts took Need for Speed back to its roots with success. Criterion Games, the developer behind Burnout, reinvigorated the series, but the game also had an interesting trailer attached. EA used that game to announce the release of Shift 2. Coming only months after the last Need for Speed game, many would see it as too soon. But more of a worry for EA is that of the gargantuan Gran Turismo 5. So, should you check out Shift 2? Well, yes and no.
