When DiRT 2 was released in 2009 it received positive reviews with this site scoring it 93/100 and praising the game for its vast range of events, vehicles and modes which were mixed with pick up and play controls. DarkSpore is not about cute creatures and falling in love. There is no evolving from a single cell organism to a cool and level headed ruler of the galaxy. Darkspore is a science fiction role playing game with no real connection to the original game which was such a huge success for Electronic Arts. Spore was a very original game which appealed to both kids and grandmothers, but this latest offering is certainly aimed at a specific audience.
Pilotwings as a series is an interesting one. First launched on the Super Nintendo system, the game is either derided or loved by each gamer with a Nintendo console. The fact is that the older games were hard, incredibly hard in fact; so difficult that you could get stuck for hours on end with nothing to do just trying to beat one challenge. However, for many gamers that is what made the game so appealing and when we heard that it was coming to 3DS with 3D graphics we were excited. However, we also had a worry that given the casual market that Nintendo now targets, it would be toned down and unfortunately this is only the beginning of its problems.

Operation Flashpoint has been a very successful franchise, targeting the first person shooter audience who like a little focus on tactics, rather than straightforward kamikaze heroics. The games started on the PC platform, but in recent years have seen many outings on the console platform also. Dragon Rising from 2009 was a fun romp, but the difficulty setting and long duration between auto saves frustrated much of the audience.
Portal was an incredible success when it was released in 2007. It was a witty, charming, addictive romp through a virtual puzzle world. The puzzle design was inspired, forcing gamers to think laterally. With 19 test rooms and a final battle with the sarcastic computer AI GlaDOS it was awarded game of the year by many publications and still remains in the list of top ten PC titles of all time for many people.

It seems that every time a new console has launched since the PlayStation that a Ridge Racer has launched with it. With the recent release of the 3DS, Ridge Racer once again made its now common appearance. However, things were different this time. Ridge Racer on a Nintendo handheld? On 3D? At launch? - We hadn't seen this before, and so there were concerns. Thankfully, for Namco, these concerns were unfounded and Ridge Racer is one of the better launch games around.
