Before I start this review, I will need you to do one thing for me. Buy Portal 2. I could finish the review right here with those words - seriously, that's all I need to say; it's that good. For those of you who trust me, follow the first step, buy Portal 2. Those of you who require a bit of persuasion, well, continue reading why you should buy Portal 2 and once you've played it, you'll understand exactly where I'm coming from.
Portal 2 was a long awaited game for a lot of us with delays pushing it back further and further and within that slightly annoyed, highly anticipated group was an eager yet impatient me. I was one of those who pissed and moaned about things being pushed back further each time it seemed to get that little bit closer.
Valves Meisterwerk ist weder Shooter noch Action-Titel oder Rollenspiel. Portal 2 ist ein Physik-Knobler, der unglaublich viel Spaß macht. PC Games Hardware hat sich im Test genauer mit den Portalen und den Gels beschäftigt und verrät Ihnen wie gut das Spiel wirklich ist.
Mit „Portal“ veröffentlichte Valve 2007 quasi nebenbei einen der Vorzeige-Titel in puncto Kreativität und Innovation. Mit dem Nachfolger soll das Projekt nun vor allem mit Blick auf den Umfang auf das Niveau eines vollwertigen Titels gehoben werden. ComputerBase testet, ob dem Spiel dieser Schritt bekommt.
So here we are again. Portal 2.
Firstly, let me apologise for this not being in our usual format. With it not being a full/large game, how much can one say?
When Valve announced Portal 2, people were over the moon. After playing Portal people were left wanting more, as it was only ever designed to show off what they were capable of. When Portal 2 actually came to light it was mentioned that there would be a free downloadable content package arriving around September 2011. This made people, including me very happy. September came and there was no sign, but then light at the end of the tunnel! Less than one weeks notice and here it was!
Hidden away in the busy winter releases were more than a few interesting titles for Sony's PS3 Move controller and today we will take a quick look at each of them, and a few older titles to see what might appeal in those last minute gift buying sessions.
Plants VS. Zombies has been around for a couple of years now. It was game of the year in 2009 and has gone onto be a hit game on a wide range of platforms including iOS, PC, Mac, Nintendo DS and others. It is one of the few games that I have come across, that doesn't seem to have any negative reviews on the App Store, all anyone seems to do is praise it and say how "amazing and fabulous" it is. Let's see if it's really all it's cracked up to be!
Tower defense games seem to be all the craze lately with every platform having a multitude at their disposal already. Heck, even the Iphone has a few really good titles available on the Itunes store. Today we are looking at the newest title available on Steam for a few bucks by developer PopCap called Plants Vs Zombies. This game is set to become a classic because it combines addictive gameplay while oozing charm and personality from every line of code.
The original Planetside graced our PCs back in 2003 – and now, 9 years later, its successor is upon is. With it comes bigger maps, a bigger arsenal and a not-so-big monthly fee of $0. Does this new kid on the block have what it takes to prove that the MMOFPS is still relevant, or is this battlefield best lost in digital space?
Pilotwings as a series is an interesting one. First launched on the Super Nintendo system, the game is either derided or loved by each gamer with a Nintendo console. The fact is that the older games were hard, incredibly hard in fact; so difficult that you could get stuck for hours on end with nothing to do just trying to beat one challenge. However, for many gamers that is what made the game so appealing and when we heard that it was coming to 3DS with 3D graphics we were excited. However, we also had a worry that given the casual market that Nintendo now targets, it would be toned down and unfortunately this is only the beginning of its problems.
