When time travel is first invented by a company called KronoteK, research teams are sent back to further document these events. While there, they discover individuals that are dying that were never meant to (how they know this is explained in the game). KronoteK does not know why, but it’s evident that history has been tampered with, and they set out to change history back to the way it was meant to be. You, as the player, are tasked with finding these individuals, saving them, and trying to set History right.

Darksiders 2 is the second installment of Vigil Games action rpg series. The series is based around a unique take on the concept of the four horseman of the apocalypse. In the first game we followed War, who was framed for starting the apocalypse ahead of schedule, and throwing earth into chaos. This recent game happens alongside some of the events from the previous and centers around War’s brother Death.

DarkSpore is not about cute creatures and falling in love. There is no evolving from a single cell organism to a cool and level headed ruler of the galaxy. Darkspore is a science fiction role playing game with no real connection to the original game which was such a huge success for Electronic Arts. Spore was a very original game which appealed to both kids and grandmothers, but this latest offering is certainly aimed at a specific audience.
For the last few weeks I have been locked away in my room, playing the new DC Universe Online MMO. Being a self professed World Of Warcraft addict, I normally expect other MMO’s to pale in comparison, but I have found this title to become massively addictive, especially for such an early stage of development.
At its core Dead Island is a mixture of hack and slash gameplay mixed with a number of RPG-ish elements. We play as one of four selectable characters who each have their own back story but essentially we wake up on a holiday island with the place in chaos. Our hotel is trashed, blood and bodies are everywhere, zombies roam free and we have to fight for survival from the start.
In many ways Dead Island has been an interesting game long before it shipped. Re-announced (after being announced in 2006) earlier this year, Dead Island was first shown with a trailer that defied all conventions of what a typical game trailer is made up of. It went in reverse and it was very 'artsy'. In fact, it was such a good advertisement for the game that the publisher, Deep Silver managed to win an award for it at the famous Cannes festival. But now the game is out, does it live up to the admittedly crazy hype? The answer is yes and no, and with a little bit more polish, it could have been a big yes.
