The last few years have been dominated by FIFA in the soccer stakes and it's a credit to EA. Pro Evolution Soccer held the crown during the PlayStation 2 era with Konami focusing on a more realistic game, whilst EA focused on a more arcade, pick up and play style. In many ways the series has now flipped with realism the key factor to FIFA and that is no more apparent than this year and the introduction of the Impact engine. FIFA 12 is one of the most defining and game changing football games to release in years, and quite frankly the best football game ever made, except for one unfortunate fact.
I'm not a sci-fi guy, and I certainly don't need another MMO to play – so what’s the deal with me taking Trion’s just-released Defiance for a spin? Because I was sent a copy, and sometimes that’s all the reason I need. Plus, I do like the premise of the game, and figured that maybe… just maybe, I’d be drawn in. Denn der hat vor allem Hardcore-Simulationen im Portfolio, etwa die Men of War Serie, die gegen den Arcade-Strom bei Spielen schwimmt. Gleiches möchte Tripwire mit Red Orchestra 2 gelingen, dessen Vorgänger Ostfront 1941-1945 auf Basis eines Mods für Unreal Tournament entstand und eine eingeschworene, aber treue Fangemeinde besitzt. Der Nachfolger "Heroes of Stalingrad" spielt immer noch im zweiten Weltkrieg, immer noch an der Ostfront und soll trotz des hohen Realitätsgehaltes immer noch Spaß machen. In wie weit Krieg aber Entertainmentzwecken dienen kann und was genau Red Orchestra 2 für schlappe 30 € alles simuliert, haben die Frontschweine bei Tech-Review im russischen Winter herausgefunden.
Oblivion was without question one of my favourite games of all time. Pilotwings as a series is an interesting one. First launched on the Super Nintendo system, the game is either derided or loved by each gamer with a Nintendo console. The fact is that the older games were hard, incredibly hard in fact; so difficult that you could get stuck for hours on end with nothing to do just trying to beat one challenge. However, for many gamers that is what made the game so appealing and when we heard that it was coming to 3DS with 3D graphics we were excited. However, we also had a worry that given the casual market that Nintendo now targets, it would be toned down and unfortunately this is only the beginning of its problems.
