Bulletstorm was released on the console and PC platforms last week. Today we are looking at the PC version which is actually a hell of a lot of fun. The game is set to appeal to a wide audience, because it doesn’t take itself too seriously, rather poking fun at the modernday seriousness of first person shooters. Think Duke Nukem with a group of swearing, tough as nails marines and an inventive, adaptive kill system.
At first glance BulletStorm comes across as a rowdy, boisterous FPS title without much depth or any sort of storyline. Not much was done to change that perception in the run-up to its release as developers People Can Fly seemed content to pander to the meandering masses. Keen to be considered different from the average, serious, war-torn FPS games that have become the norm (Call of Duty, Battlefield etc.) EA released a Call of Duty spoof entitled Duty Calls. The short game summed up everything that the dev team found boring in the CoD series in hilarious fashion, the question is: Is BulletStorm really so different?
Burnout Crash! is a colourful downloadable arcade for Xbox 360 and Play Station 3. It is a famous destruction racer spin-off, with focus on the single mode from Burnout 2 and up – “Crash Mode”. The rules are simple – you drive into a busy intersection and try to cause as much damage around you as possible. Cars, road fixtures, buildings, everything has to blow up.
