Being a short month, it comes as no surprise that the latest Catalyst version has hit us a little earlier than usual. As always, we'll run it through our normal array of benchmarks and see if outside of what AMD say we're going to see improvements in, there's anything else that shows us some surprises.

As we roll into another year and the first month comes to a close, it comes as no surprise that we begin to see a new iteration of the Catalyst driver suite. As you would've guessed, we're dealing now with the 11 series driver and being both the first one and the January one, the exact name is the 11.1 driver.

It's official; we're in December with the release of the Catalyst 10.12. As the Catalyst driver team has done over the past few Decembers, they're at it again offering us something special at the end of the year.

These drivers have arrived a lot earlier than I expected, but I suppose we're going to have the 10.12 earlier in the month than normal due to the holidays. The December drivers are always interesting as AMD (or previously, ATI) would sometimes throw us a little bonus, with my personal favorite being when we saw the Quad Core support offered which yielded some great performance increases

Amongst the launch of the HD 6800 series from AMD we've seen a new driver hit us in the form of the 10.10. I'm going to keep it a little brief as I continue to work hard on more HD 6800 series content and no doubt have to prepare for the launch of the HD 6900 series next. So let's look at the performance improvements AMD are telling us to expect and then just get stuck into it.

You know for me I never saw the need for an Amazon Kindle. I get all kinds of gadgets to play with and I have two tablets already, which I rarely use. I ended up winning the Kindle Fire HD at a party at CES so I was pretty curious to see what all the buzz was about. I do actually read a lot, but I tried to make the switch over to reading on tablets and it just did not stick. I think the biggest thing was that I didn’t want to carry a large tablet around with me all of the time. The Kindle Fire HD being only 7-inches is the smallest tablet I have owned or really spent an extended period of time with. After taking it out of the package I said to myself, “wow this thing is small and who would want a tablet this size?” But after using it for a few weeks it seems to be the perfect device to read on. Of course there is much more you can do on the Kindle fire HD as well so let’s go ahead and get this review started!

Adobe's Lightroom 4 has been available for a couple of months now, and our very own shoot-a-holic Brett Thomas has been using it regularly since its release. The company has been touting much with the program's latest iteration, so join us as we explore whether it's worth upgrading to or if it's just more of the same.
