One of my favorite categories of notebooks are the gaming machines. They remind me a lot of sports cars; you get more power than most sane people really want, enough style to keep people staring at you and a price tag that reflects the premium nature of the product.

Aimed at the business user, the Vostro series from Dell is today getting a little bit of a face lift and the new V130 is the one we're checking out. Packing some sweet goodies, the V130 looks like it's going to indeed hit the spot for the user on the go. Checking out the specifications of the V130 we've got on hand, it's very business-like. We've got an Intel i5 470UM which is a Dual Core 1.33GHz CPU that has a total of four threads thanks to HyperThreading. We've got a single 4GB DDR3 memory module clocked at 800MHz DDR and graphics is provided by Intel in the form of Arrandale which carries only very basic features with a 166MHz core clock.

About a year after the release of the original Note, Samsung brought the Note II to the table. Built upon a similar architecture and design of the wildly successful Galaxy S III, the Note II also brought several software and design improvements over the original Note. I happen to have a Note II here today and look forward to putting it up against the original Note, my Galaxy S III and some other competition!

Today we’re going to be looking at the Asus W90Vp, a multimedia notebook full of features such as an 18.4” 1080p display, a Blu-Ray drive and a powerful dual core CPU with overclocking capabilities paired with two of ATI’s mobile 4870 cards in a Crossfire configuration.

The Intel model is faster, cheaper, and more importantly, it's compatible with all Windows software. The ARM version is limited to the Modern UI applications and Office 2013. It begs the question, is there a good reason for buying a Windows RT tablet?

The netbook phenomenon has exploded in recent years with almost every major manufacturer entering into this lucrative market. MSI were one of the pioneers with the 2008 Wind U100 selling en masse to a cost conscious audience. I had one of these units for 9 months and I have to say it was a reliable netbook, even if it was slow as molasses.

When is a Laptop Not a Netbook or a Notebook? The answer is when it's the new HP DM3 powered by AMD's Athlon Neo processor. This 13.3 inch marvel combines properties of both a netbook and a notebook to achieve something truly remarkable. The DM3 has the thinness of a netbook, the resolution and size of an ultraportable laptop, the price of a netbook, and yet nearly the performance of a full laptop. The best thing about the DM3 . . . it does it all with HP styling. So is the DM3 the answer to consumer prayers? Should it be on your holiday wish list?
