Many companies have been doing the cross over between console and PC headsets, and Steelseries are no exception. We’ve previously looked at their 5XB headset and wern’t hugely impressed. Let’s see if the revamped and bigger brother, the 7XB performs better.
Recently we looked at the Spectrum 5XB, SteelSeries’ first attempt at an Xbox 360 gaming headset …. essentially their 5H headset with a clever adapter which allowed you to plug it into an Xbox controller for Xbox Live chat. Not to rest on their laurels, the SteelSeries’ boffins have been working hard behind the scenes to develop a new Xbox headset with a number of exciting features.
The Spectrum 7XB Wireless Headset may be the first XBOX 360 compatible wireless headset by SteelSeries but thanks to its very good build quality, excellent audio clarity, good wireless range and range of features you will have a very hard time believing that.

SteelSeries have a long track record of delivering quality products so we were very much looking forward to reviewing the new 7XB. Now almost seven months later and we finally have our hands on it.

This is where SteelSeries and Ignite Game Technologies come into play. Together they have developed the SteelSeries Simraceway SRW-S1 motion sensitive steering wheel. A wheel that bridges the gap between console style game controllers and high end wheel/pedal setups, and it is available now from the SteelSeries web shop for $119.99 MSRP. Out of the box it is setup to work with Ignite's 'Simraceway' online racing simulator for the PC, but SteelSeries state that it will work with just about any racing game designed for the PC. Here at Benchmark Reviews we take marketing claims at face value and we ! always leave our judgement to real world testing, but if looks are anything to go by then we are in for one hell of a treat.
It may be quite rare but as technology progresses once in a while the industry comes up with some pretty amazing devices which in a way rewrite what we know about things.
