On the test bench today is the ROCCAT Isku FX, a new version of the Isku that adds a 16.8 million color backlight system to the mix. While most new high-end keyboards offer mechanical switches, the Isku FX sticks to the traditional, cheaper membranes. Geared towards gamers, the Isku FX offers eight dedicated, programmable macro keys, Easy-Shift[+] to give the keys around the WASD zone a second functionality, and on-the-fly macro recording thanks to a dedicated record button.

Cooler Master has done a good job with their mechanical keyboard lineup to make sure they provide options for both gamers and mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. That means they have keyboards that focus on backlighting and macro keys as well as more simple designs that the enthusiasts tend to enjoy. At CES this January I caught a glimpse at a full sized keyboard that reminded me of the simplicity of the Quickfire Rapid. This was the Quickfire XT and today I will finally be taking a look at it. Let’s see what its all about.

As expected with mechanical keyboards, typing on the QuickFire XT was an overwhelmingly positive experience as a result of Cherry’s switch mechanism. Individuals have their own preferences and so it’s not fair to rate or rank the switch types. Cooler Master avoids the issue of forced switch selection by making the QuickFire XT available in four Cherry MX switches...

When Cooler Master introduced its QuickFire Rapid last year, it seemed like it was a near-perfect mech. The only thing that let it down in some people’s eyes was the lack of a numpad, but now, a couple of years later, the company has addressed that with its latest offering, the QuickFire XT. Join us as we put it through its paces.

Gigabyte are one of the top manufacturers in the industry, famed for their motherboards especially, I myself use Gigabyte hardware in my system and there is a good chance that you do too, or have done in the past. Yet while many people think of Gigabyte for their internal hardware components, it is sometimes easy to forget that they have some fantastic peripherals too and their Aivia range is widely known to offer premium products, often with some pretty cool features.
The mouse we are looking at today is a little different from what we normally see from a high end mouse product, there is zero focus on this being gaming product, because it isn’t one. This is a mouse for business and presentations, for those who need to be mobile while presenting information and with features such as an “air mouse” and laser pointer, as well as screen writing tools, the Gigabyte Aivia Neon could be the ultimate solution for presentations where you’re using your computer via a projector, or on a large screen, allowing you to walk around and use your mouse without a desk, but how well does it work? That is the real important questions and there are clearly some challenges involved here, so lets get straight to it and see what the Neon has to offer.
