Roccat have produced some of the coolest and best performing peripherals we’ve ever tested here at eTeknix, going from the Roccat Kone XTD gaming mouse which I personally regard as the best mouse on the market, to their smaller Kone Pure and the hybrid Savu, all of which won eTeknix awards for their incredible performance and extensive features, amongst many other great reasons. So naturally we’re going into this review with pretty high expectations of both Roccat and the Kone Pure Optical gaming mouse.
The Optical sensor is a big deal for some gamers, laser is wonderful to use and incredibly accurate across a wide range of surfaces, while also being capable of extremely high DPI in excess of 8200. Optical is typically capable of lower DPI settings of around 4000 and doesn’t work on some surface types such as glass and aluminium. Both types of sensor have theirs benefits and while I lack the words to describe how, optical feels different to laser and the way it tracks is really a matter of taste compared to laser. Roccat know that a lot of gamers love optical sensors and would rather have one over crazy high DPI laser sensors, which is why they’ve released the Pure Optical mouse.
The mouse is really well equipped with a high quality sensor, 1000Hz polling rate, a super low response time, a fast tracking speed, built in ARM CPU, on board memory for profiles, macros and most importantly of all zero angle snapping and prediction.

Today for review I have a product from Genius called the Energy Mouse and not only is it wireless but it has a built-in battery. Ok, so yes most any wireless mouse has a built-in battery but this one isn’t just for the mouse, it’s a power source that can be used to charge your smartphone. The battery inside of the Energy Mouse is 2700mAh in capacity and depending on the battery in your phone you could possibly get a couple charges out of it.

Peripherals
Mionix have recently introduced their Avior 8200 high-end mouse which sports a fine-tuned Avago 9800 sensor and can jump through DPI values thanks to the three programmable steps. It is ambidextrous and features a soft-touch coating which is comfortable during long gaming sessions.

Wireless mice have often suffered from the assumption that they are not as good as hard wired mice. More often than not this is simply because there is lag in getting the signal from the mouse to the PC quick enough, something that people who take their gaming seriously really care about as a few extra milliseconds can be the difference between death or an epic head-shot. Then there are problems with battery life, or a lack of extra features that you often find on premium wired gaming mice. Gigabyte know this, so Gigabyte are going to try and do something about it, that is where the Aivia Uranium comes into play, and if it is as powerful as the periodic element that it is named after, we are in for a real treat.
Gaming is big business these days and many gamers have little issue with paying a premium for quality gaming gear, especially if there will be a noticeable improvement to their gaming experience, or of course any general improvement in the comfort and productivity while using a computer. The Uranium mouse is quite expensive at around £90 – £100 (prices taken from Google Shopping), but it does pack an impressive feature set as well as some truly unique features, such as the OLED equipped Ghost Macro Station, high quality sensor and wireless technology.
