Earlier on in the year we took a look at the Logitech G302, the first mouse from the company to use its new spring tension system for more responsive button clicks. However, it did have some limitations with a low DPI setting and a lack of lighting customization.
Today, we are taking a look at the G302’s successor, the G303 Daedalus Apex, retaining that great spring tensioning system but upgrading the mouse sensor and throwing RGB lighting in to the mix.

Every gamer i know from casual ones and up to eSports professionals has invested quite a bit in a good graphics card but for some weird reason casual gamers don't see the real value in investing a bit in gaming peripherals such as keyboards, mice, mats and headsets. I don't know if that's due to the fact that they prefer single player games and so they don't need to worry about having the edge over serious competition coming from other players but regardless of the reason that's just how things are. Through the years I’ve used and reviewed a very large number of gaming peripherals and so have most editors i know but there aren't that many manufacturers that come to mind when talking about gaming mice like Mionix and since they just launched their latest model called the Castor we just had to have it on our test bench.

Given the amount of time Cougar has been in business, it is our expectation that the 550M gaming mouse we are reviewing won’t disappoint. The Cougar 550M is a high-end gaming mouse featuring a 6400 DPI SDNS-3988 optical sensor, DPI switching, onboard memory, six fully programmable buttons, and two RGB lighting zones. It can be found at Newegg for $39.99...

It’s weird, for a long time it felt like I was testing a new mouse every week or two week. More recently though that has almost completely flipped and my peripheral testing has been all keyboards. Well just before vacation and then the LAN I did have a bit of a chance of pace. Mionix sent over their latest mouse, the Castor and asked us to take a look at it. So I’ve been putting the new mouse to the test in the office while I have been getting caught up on work. Well I finally have a little time to be able to sit down and talk about Mionix’s latest mouse and how it performed, so hang on I’m going to go over everything.

While the VOID Stereo is compatible with a wide selection of devices which can output analog audio signal, the quality of the sound is also often influenced by the source. We have connected the headset to our trusty Sound Blaster ZxR sound card and watched some movies, several YouTube clips but also some of the latest TV Shows like Gotham, Grimm, The Walking Dead and so on. The main conclusion is that with the right sound card settings and enhancements, the Stereo is going to sound pretty good but this is also thanks to the 50mm-large Neodymium drivers it incorporates that are also used on the more expensive models. Talking about the microphone, if the sound card from our setup does not add additional noise to the signal as in our test system, it will sound crystal clear and basically produce the same results as with the VOID Wireless. During our Skype test calls for several hours, the person on the other end of the line confirmed that we were being heard just fine.

Corsair has produced some fantastic looking keyboards in the last year. Adding to that line up now is a variant on its highly praised STRAFE design – the Silent. This board features the same RGB backlighting, media keys and attachable wrist rest, but with modified mechanical switches to make them that much quieter when you are typing.

Although pretty much everything in the PC industry changes rapidly thanks to advancements in technology the keyboard and mouse combo are the only two things that have remained pretty much the same since the beginning. Sure we've witnessed the introduction of new and improved membrane and mechanical switches, extra features like macro keys and backlit illumination and different tracking technologies such as optical, laser and LED but in the end the shape and basic functionality of both remains the same. That being said mechanical gaming keyboards have become very popular especially amongst serious gamers, enthusiasts and professionals not only because of the increased durability (up to 60 million keystrokes) and feedback (both audible and tactile) offered by mechanical switches (always compared to regular membrane models) but also because of their features including the newly introduced RGB key illumination. Not long ago Tesoro introduced the Excalibur RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and since it got a really warm welcome by gamers all over the world it didn't take long for them to update it by launching the Excalibur Spectrum Mechanical Gaming Keyboard model which we'll be looking at today.
