I’ve had two Turtle Beach headphones in the past and both of them broke, so when I got the Turtle Beach Ear Force X12′s to review I was thinking it would end up the same. A lot of gamers will have heard of Turtle Beach as its one of the most common gaming headphone manufactures out there, they have stereo headphones, dolby digital surround sound, wireless headphones and more for all gaming platforms.
Turtle Beach are one of the biggest names in the gaming audio industry and their products are favoured by gamers across the globe. We recently looked at one of their PC headsets – the Z6A, which was very impressive indeed. Going on past experiences we were very happy to receive their latest Xbox 360 headset to test.
We’ve got something pretty special in the eTeknix office today, the latest headset from Turtle Beach and our very first review of an Xbox One peripheral. I’ve not had much joy from the console its self over the last couple of month, but one thing I have hated most of all is the lack of great headsets, or at least headsets that I like using. Hopefully the new headset from Turtle Beach can resolve this.

Turtle Beach as a company have actually been around for over 20 years now so they have many years more experience than newcomers such as Tt eSPORTS and CM Storm.
There was no shortage of gaming headphone vendors at PAX 09. Not only were Astro, Dolby and Tritton there, but Turtle Beach was showing off some of their headsets designed for gamers.
Turtle Beach is one of the most instantly recognisable brands in the gaming market. They’ve continued to produce award-winning high-end products year after year, even landing some of the best budget friendly models in the PC and console gaming sectors. Today though, we’re looking higher up the range, right at the very top in fact, with their new flagship Xbox One gaming headset, the Elite 800X.
Turtle Beach is one of the biggest gaming brands around, having earned a great reputation for producing a wide range of headset products that cover a wide spectrum of budgets. Whilst I’ve seen and heard a lot of good things from their budget models, the really exciting stuff is obviously at the upper end of the budget scale. The latest addition to their range certainly falls into the premium bracket, with an RRP of £119.99 (and many retailers selling at around £140) they’re obviously not targeted at your average gamer.
If you find yourself jumping from rooftop to rooftop, wallrunning your way between kills and blasting away at 30ft tall metal behemoths on a regular basis you are either playing Titanfall or need to reduce your meds. Either way though, you will probably appreciate the style of Turtle Beach’s latest headset, the Titanfall Ear Force Atlas headset. It’s compatible with the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC, with adapters, cables and connectors galore – but does it sound good? That’s what’s important and that’s what we are here to find out.

Today we take a look at the other side of the console divide with the Xbox One (and 360/PC) focused Ear Force Atlas which is a Titanfall branded unit.
