Features are pretty much the same as well. The unit still lacks the 50C rating as well as over temperature protection. As this unit has modular cables, Antec does manage to add another green check on the list and it will likely help the series appeal to a wider range of users.
Antec has an MSRP of $99 on the HCG-620M unit. We were able to find it cheapest at Provantage at the time of writing this article for $97.64 after shipping. Antec backs the Antec HCG-620M with a three year warranty.

It really feels like centuries since i last reviewed a power supply unit and so todays review is not only the first of its kind here but also the first one i test with a new test rig (well not actually new since the components are pretty much what I’ve always used, just on a different test bench). I am sure that by now most of you are well aware about the reasons as to why people should always prefer brand name power supplies over noname ones but for all of you who are not i can point the 3 perhaps most important ones which are clean and stable power for your system (translates to more life for your computer), higher quality components (more durable) and finally lower noise levels (who likes noise?). So today on the new test bench we have the latest Antec HCG-620M, a 620 modular unit targeted towards the mid-end segment of the market and more specifically gamers.

One COMPUTEX is over and another E3 has just begun so naturally things are somewhat chaotic these days with all the people going back and forth to attend both shows. Unfortunately although many manufacturers revealed quite a few impressive products during this year’s COMPUTEX we were unable to attend we did however managed to have some of those products delivered to us to start on their reviews before they were even unveiled in COMPUTEX so that in a way makes up for that. To be completely honest with you some of us are way more interested in this year’s CES since there are going to be (or at least should be) several ground breaking game titles presented there such as Chris Roberts Star Citizen/Squadron 42, Call Of Duty Ghosts, Star Wars Battlefront, Thief and Elite Dangerous by David Braben. So if any of you end up going there remember not to miss out on these amazing upcoming game titles (if you are not worry not, you can check E3 at our friends over at Gamespot). Leaving E3 aside today we will be focusing one of the products presented in this year’s COMPUTEX the HCG-750M High Current Gamer Modular 750W PSU by Antec.

While i am writing these lines the temperature here vary from 30-35 degrees Celsius (60-70 degrees Fahrenheit) and so because things will most definitely get worse as we get deeper in the summer period we can't stress enough the importance of having a good power supply unit as part of your system. Now as some of you know during this year’s Computex most PSU manufacturers (if not all) introduced all their latest models with features aimed mostly towards enthusiasts and gamers. Naturally Antec was also present to introduce the latest modular additions in their High Current Gamer PSU line and since we've already checked out the very good HCG-750M a couple of weeks ago today we decided to take a step further and test its larger brother the HCG-850W 850W PSU.

Antec is arguably the most well-known name in the computer power supply industry and rightfully so. They've been around since 1986 and have provided quality power supplies, cases, cooling products and more that fit the need of just about any type of build for both businesses and consumers. Over the last few years we've seen a large refresh in many of Antec's product lines, especially their power supplies. Today we are taking a look at the Antec High Current Pro 1200W power supply, the highest output PSU offered in the new HCP series.
