A little while ago we had our first encounter with Fractal Design’s power supply units, in our review of the Tesla R2 650W. The 80Plus Gold certified Tesla R2 proved to be a formidable adversary for the competition; however, the retail price is placing it out of the reach of most mainstream users. Today we will be having a look at the most powerful PSU of the Integra series, the 80Plus Bronze certified series of Fractal Design, the Integra R2 750W.

There are many PSUs in the Strider Gold series, but currently only 2 in the Gold S Series; the ST75F-GS 750W & ST85F-GS 850W models. Their main focus on PSUs recently have been on downsizing the enthusiasts PSUs. Note that these are the smallest fully modular ATX PSUs in their wattage class. This makes them compatible with all ATX cases, even SFF cases. The SilverStone Strider Gold S Series ST75F-GS Power Supply offers clean, quality power, it's 100% modular, comes with a quiet fan and is 80 Plus Gold certified.

It's been a while since we did a group test of PC power supplies, so today we'll take a closer look at 19 PSUs in the 500-550 watt segment. In this round-up we cover 19 power supplies from the following brands: Antec, Be Quiet!, Cooler Master, Corsair, EVGA, Enermax, FSP, Fractal Design, Nexus, OCZ, Seasonic, SilverStone, XFX and Zalman.

The Seasonic Platinum 660W, 760W and 860W are basically perfect power supplies. They have the best low-load efficiency we've ever seen in this segment, the efficiency at higher loads is also good, their ripple is outstanding and the semi-passive design makes them inaudible in most circumstances. Had some of the cables been a little longer there would have been nothing we could complain about.

Today we take a look at our first CS-M series PSU from Corsair. This is the 650w model and is designed to offer gold efficiency with competitive pricing for builders on a tight budget.

Cooler Master's GX II 550 Watt power supply is an 80 Plus Bronze rated PSU. The GX II 550 has been designed to support the power saving features of Intel's Haswell CPUs and will provide USB power to charge mobile devices while the computer's off. Feeding power to the components, there's the standard 24-pin connector to the motherboard, a 4+4-pin 12V supply for the CPU, a pair of 6+2 pin PCI-e connectors, two cables with three SATA power connectors each, and one cable with three 4-pin Molex connectors and a floppy drive power connector.

Fractal Design is a Swedish company which started off as a computer case designer and manufacturer. Like most such companies, after they have established a foothold in their original segment of the market, they began diversifying into other segments as well. Naturally, Fractal Design began their diversification towards power supply units, releasing several products, which are today divided into three series based on their 80Plus certification; Integra (Bronze), Tesla (Gold) and Newton (Platinum). The power supply which we will be reviewing today is the Tesla R2 650W. As the name suggests, this is the second revision of the Tesla series.
