Hat der Gorilla noch seine Villa? scheinbar ja, denn die Maxpoint Eigenmarke Silver Power startet noch längerer Abstinenz wieder durch und lanciert das SP-S460FL Netzteil, das unverkennbar aus einer engen Zusammenarbeit mit Seasonic entstammt. Nun stellen passiv gekühlte Netzteile durchaus keine exotische Spezies dar, sondern können inzwischen auch sehr leistungsstarke System versorgen, sofern die Technik seriös konstruiert wurde. Seasonic lieferte ende 2010 mit der passiv gekühlten X-Serie (400 und 460 Watt) den Beweis dafür ab und zeigte in überzeugender Art und Weise, was diesbezüglich möglich ist. Das Ganze ohne Taschenspielertricks (Verzicht auf wichtige Schutzschaltungen etc.) zu bewerkstelligen, um höhere Effizienzen zu erreichen, lautet die entsprechende Formel.

My first real introduction to Cougar was with the review of their PowerX power supply a little over a month ago. The PowerX was a great 80PLUS Bronze power supply that offered good performance and quiet operation for those not wanting to break the bank on the price tag. Anxious to see what Cougar had to offer in the higher end market, today I have their GX-S power supply on the bench. The GX-S series offers a trio of 80PLUS Gold certified models for those who don't necessarily need the extremely high wattages offered by Cougar's other 80PLUS Gold series, the GX series.

Hiper have three different series of PSUs, the Type-R MKII series consisting of modular high performance units, the Type-M series consisting of non-modular high performance units and the Type-S series consisting of simpler, mainstream units. We reviewed most of the Type-R and Type-M ranges in the past couple of years, but today we are going to take our very first look at their new S series with the S625 unit. The S625 is capable of handling a continuous power output of up to 625W and offers a rather wide range of features for a very alluring price tag. We will examine the features and the performance of the S625 in this review.
REVOLUTION85+ is an 80 Plus Silver power supply series from Enermax featuring modular cabling system, resonant switching and a synchronous design with DC-DC conversion. The manufacturer promises that units from this series are capable of delivering their rated power at 50º C, and up to 99% of the power can be pulled from the +12 V rails. Power supplies from this series are available in 850 W, 920 W, 950 W, 1020 W, 1050 W and 1250 W flavors. The 920 W and 1020 W are new addition to the series and have four +12 V rails, while the other models have six +12 V rails. Let's see how the new 920 W model performs in our tests
In the Newton R3, Fractal Design is introducing a semi-passive cooling system which has fan activity only when loads are above 50%, allowing for the quietest possible operation. This is made possible through incredibly efficient design coupled with excellent passive cooling characteristics. This same efficiency allows the Newton R3 to pack a 1000W PSU into a 165mm long chassis without having need for a larger footprint. While the chassis is small, connection options on the Newton R3 are large, with fixed 20+4-pin, 4+4-pin and four 6+2 PCIe, with modular cables adding 12 SATA, five 4-pin peripheral plus an additional 8-pin CPU connector. All modular cables are flat black ribbon cables for ease of routing, with varying lengths to keep cable clutter to a minimum. Ende 2009 stellten wir das S550 vom damals noch recht unbekannten Label Cougar in einem Review vor. Cougar war und ist jedoch kein Neuling im eigentlichen Sinne, da das Label zum Hersteller HEC Compucase gehört. Damals konnte das S550 überzeugen und wurde zurecht mit unserem Gold-Award ausgezeichnet. Mit der SX-Serie steht nun der Nachfolger in den Löchern und so wollten wir es uns nicht nehmen lassen, auch hier dem Netzteil auf die Finger zu schauen.
