We take our first look at a Cooler Master PSU in almost two years and find out just what we've been missing out on.
Power Supply
Today we are looking at a power supply from Cooler Master called the ‘Silent Pro Hybrid’. This is based around the Silent Pro Gold Model, but it features a high grade cooling fan with hydraulic bearings … this stops rotating completely when the loads are below 200W. Cooler Master have a 1300W, a 1050W and an 850W in the range and we are looking at the smallest, most affordable supply in the series.

It has been three quick summer months since our last PSU report, which happened to be on the Thermaltake Litepower 450W article written by yours truly back in June. The Thermaltake Litepower 450W that I've looked at is a budget oriented power supply. Although Thermaltake classified it as being 'green' and 'efficient', the price to performance ratio was a bit lacking; especially considering its $90 price tag.

Silent Pro M is a power supply series from Cooler Master featuring a modular cabling system and a single +12 V rail, at this moment featuring 500 W, 600 W, 700 W, 850 W and 1,000 W. The first three models have only the standard 80 Plus certification, while the 850 W and 1,000 W model have the 80 Plus Bronze certification, showing that they are based on a different design. Let's see if the 600 W model (a.k.a. RS-600-AMBA-D3) is a good buy.

A good power supply is probably the most important part of any system build, and while KitGuru have focused recently on some seriously high end units such as the Corsair AX1200 and the Enermax Revolution 85+ 1020W, not everyone can afford these (or needs them in the first place).

I'm very impressed with Cooler Master's Silent Pro M600W. Here's a quiet, compact, high-quality PSU with flat modular cabling, high efficiency and a five-year warranty from an established company. Cooler Master also includes silicone vibration gaskets and black mounting screws.

With so many power supplies available these days, it is definitely hard to find the right one. From picking the right features, to balancing performance with price, it can seem like they all blend together. Today, we have for review Cooler Master's latest bid into the PSU market, the Silent Pro M 600W, which hopes to stand out among the vast crowd of power supplies currently available.

Silent Pro M is the latest power supply series from Cooler Master, featuring modular cabling system and single-rail design, with 500 W, 600 W, 700 W, 850 W and 1000 W models available. Today we are going to test the 850 W version from this series (RS-850-AMBA-J3), which is scheduled to reach the market by the end of this month, and see if it will survive our tests.

Cooler Master has been in the ranks of top tier PSU manufacturers for some time and are delivering their newest offering, the Silent Pro M2 1000W. The Silent Pro M2 1000W is an 80-Plus Silver certified PSU with plenty of power for even the most demanding of enthusiasts. The single 12v rail of the M2 is capable of delivering 960W and can be spread out to six 6-2 PCIe, two 4+4 CPU, twelve SATA and five 4-pin, with a floppy connector thrown in for legacy users on its modular cables. This combination can easily power tri-SLI and quad GPU setups, as well as dual CPU boards. To aid in cable routing, the M2 uses flat ribbon cables on the modular points which can also cut down on airflow resistance in case. Keeping things cool is a quiet HDB 135mm fan with speed control and an copper aluminum heatsink internally. Six way protection circuitry keeps the PSU and your system out of harm’s way, while Cooler Master backs the Silent Pro M2 1000W with a 5-Year warranty.
