XFX, the traditional video card manufacturer, is now entering the power supply arena. Let�s take a look on their first release, a high-end 850 W model.
I am often surprised when I get together with friends to see the power supplies driving their otherwise high end PC builds. The same, otherwise sane, friends will often spend hundreds on video cards and high end CPUs but skimp on building a solid foundation, a proper power supply.
Recently we analysed the Seasonic X-Series 1250W power supply aimed at the ultra high end enthusiast market. Today we supplement that review with a look at the more cost efficient X-Series 850W model, priced around the £150 mark. This is a fully modular design which has achieved 80 Plus Gold Certification.
Cooler Master has also released a high-quality power supply series called UCP with an internal design similar to Seasonic M12D, Antec Signature and Corsair HX units but costing far less. Is it a good product?

The EVGA SuperNova 1300W is an excellent power supply with almost Platinum-like efficiency, an extremely low ripple and good voltages. Gamers and overclockers with multiple video cards can eat their heart out with this PSU. The only criticism we have is the amount noise this beast produces.
