Power Supply
XFX recently released a new series of power supplies with the 80 Plus Gold certification and a fully modular cabling system, with 750 W, 850 W, 1,050 W, and 1,250 W versions, dubbed the PRO Black Edition Full Modular. Be aware that the name "PRO Black Edition" has already been used by XFX for an 80 Plus Bronze power supply series, and the new series has the "Full Modular" words added to its name. (The new models have the letters "BEF" added at the end of their part numbers.) Wouldn't it be simpler to just use a different name? Anyway, we've already reviewed the 750 W model, which proved to be an outstanding unit. Let's see if the 850 W version also deserves our recommendation.

XFX is releasing their PRO series of power supplies, with single +12 V rail, DC-DC secondary design, and 80 Plus Bronze certification. So far three models were released: 650 W, 750 W, and 850 W. We have already tested the 650 W and the 750 W models, and both proved to have terrific cost/benefit ratios. Let's see if the 850 W model follows the same path.

Last year KitGuru reviewed all three of the new XFX Pro Series family, the 850W, the 750W and the 650W. We found them all to be great power supplies capable of solid power delivery at very competitive prices. Today we review the two latest members of the Pro Series family, the 450W and 550W units.

Today we are looking at a new power supply from XFX, the Pro Series 650W – the smallest in a series of three units recently released (750W and 850W are also available and will be reviewed shortly). This is not the first time XFX have released a series of power supplies – their XXX (semi modular) and Black Edition (fully modular) ranges were well received, both critically and by the enthusiast audience.

Last week we reviewed the XFX Pro Series 650W Power supply which proved to be a very capable Seasonic based product offering competitive pricing. Today we follow up with the second in our three part series and focus on the mid priced Pro Series 750W supply.
Power Supply
Overall, the XFX Pro Series 850W Black Edition is not the best performing 850W power supply that we have ever tested, nor the most innovative, or the lowest priced; however, it is outstandingly balanced in every aspect. The overall performance is undeniably excellent, with the PSU easily conforming to the 80Plus Gold certification standards, running silent and maintaining low temperatures, as well as displaying admirable electrical performance. When it comes to quality, the fact that Seasonic is the OEM behind its manufacturing alone should be enough to satisfy even the most demanding of users. The choice of components is excellent, as is the quality of the assembly. XFX covers this unit with a 5 year warranty (parts + labor), which should be enough to quell any concerns...

Over recent weeks we have reviewed the XFX Pro Series 650w and 750W power supplies and today we finish our series of reviews by looking at the highest wattage version in the non modular Pro series – the 850W model.

Today we have the first products in a new range of PSUs from XFX on our test bench. These models, aimed at the value conscious consumer who doesn't like to compromise, should be in-stock across the web tomorrow but are they worth buying?

Over the past five to six years, the name XFX has become synonymous with enthusiasts and for many good reasons. XFX made a huge push during the era of the NVIDIA 6xxx and 7xxx series cards and were always pushing the limits of the clock speeds. This gave them some of the fastest cards on the market and enthusiasts naturally flocked to them for better performance. Since then, the company has expanded quite a bit and now not only offers NVIDIA cards, but AMD cards and power supplies as well.
