Our last PSU review took an in depth look at the performance of the Jou Jye BW-B620JL power supply. Many of our readers probably wanted to learn a bit more about the linking feature that allows multiple Jou Jye PSU's to be linked together. Jou Jye claims that a user is able to link two of these out of the box and then able to link a total of seven power supplies with some additional hardware offered by the company. As most would expect from an enthusiast grade power supply and from Seasonic, the X-1050 has a full complement of features. All protections are there including over temperature protection. The unit is rated for 100% continuous output at 50C and carries an 80Plus Gold rating. Months ago there were rumors that the X-1050 would be Platinum rated, but it looks like they weren't quite able to make it happen.
The Seasonic X-1050 is available at numerous places and can currently be had for $219.99 plus shipping at Newegg. That puts it squarely in the middle of the range for price when looking at 1000W units and with some more attractive features than the competition. Seasonic backs the unit with a five year warranty.
Today we are unboxing a very powerful and efficient power supply. It is the Lazer Platinum 1000W Power Supply from Kingwin. As the name suggests this is an 80PLUS Platinum certified power supply. That means it will run at 92% efficient and 50% load and 89% efficient at 100% load. The new High Current Gamer M is a version of Antec's High Current Gamer power supply series with a modular cabling system. So far, only three models are available: 400 W, 520 W, and 620 W. The original High Current Gamer series also has a 750 W and a 900 W model. All models have the 80 Plus Bronze certification and single +12 V rail design. Let's take an in-depth look at the 620 W model from this new series, also known as HCG-620M.
Features are pretty much the same as well. The unit still lacks the 50C rating as well as over temperature protection. As this unit has modular cables, Antec does manage to add another green check on the list and it will likely help the series appeal to a wider range of users.
Antec has an MSRP of $99 on the HCG-620M unit. We were able to find it cheapest at Provantage at the time of writing this article for $97.64 after shipping. Antec backs the Antec HCG-620M with a three year warranty.
