It is very important to notice that Corsair HX750W, HX850W and HX1000W have nothing to do with other models from this same series. They use a complete different (and better, by the way) design using a DC-DC converter to generate their +5 V and +3.3 V outputs, like several other high-efficiency power supplies (PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910, Antec Signature, Antec TruePower New, Seasonic M12D and Cooler Master UCP series). These HX models are manufactured by CWT, while other models from HX series are manufactured by Seasonic. Why Corsair kept the same name is a mystery. In our opinion they should have used a different name so consumers would know they are facing a different product class, targeted to users looking a power supply with high-end parts and very high efficiency.

The SNA 95 should be on your list of adapters if you ever break your original or decide you need a spare. It may only save you a few dollars or may cost you an extra buck or two, but it provides extreme versatility with notebook and peripheral charging.

Power supplies are often a neglected part of any computer rig. They have neither the interest of a graphics card nor the features of a motherboard and so often finds itself bottom of the list when it comes to building a rig. However, the humble power supply is an essential part of any computer and a bad unit can ruin not only itself but also other components. Other things to consider are the peak output power, efficiency and whether it is SLI ready, but the main thing that a PSU needs to achieve is rock solid rail stability. OCZ sell a range of different wattage units and today we look at one from the ModXStream range that aims to achieve all this and more.

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910 uses internally the same design as Seasonic M12D, thus being manufactured by Seasonic. This design is based on a DC-DC converter on the secondary, i.e. Silencer 910 is basically a +12 V power supply with two small power supplies in charging of converting the +12 V output into +5 V and +3,3 V. This is the same concept used on power supplies series like Signature and TruePower New from Antec, M12D from Seasonic, UCP from Cooler Master and HX (750 W and above) from Corsair. These other models proved to have an above-the-average efficiency. It is important to keep in mind that other models from PC Power & Cooling Silencer series use a different internal design. Let's see how the performance from PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910 is.

The Seasonic M12D-750 power supply is big, it's black, and it's modular. This 750W power supply unit is 80 PLUS efficiency certified, has up to 99% Active Power Factor Correction (A-PFC) and universal AC support (120/240VAC). The M12D-750 is designed for the enthusiast who sees quad-core processors and SLI / CrossfireX videocards in their immediate future, so we have some pretty high expectations going into this review.

The new TruePower (TP) series from Antec is based on a DC-DC converter on the secondary, i.e. it is basically a +12 V power supply with two small power supplies in charging of converting the +12 V output into +5 V and +3,3 V. This is the same concept used on power supplies series like Signature also from Antec, M12D from Seasonic, UCP from Cooler Master and HX (750 W and above) from Corsair. These other models proved to have an above-the-average efficiency. It is important to keep in mind that Antec used to have another series using the same name, but using a completely different internal design. That is why Antec is using the word "New" after the name "True Power".

You need to pay close attention because Seventeam has two power supply series with practically the same name but using different projects: PAF and P-AF. PAF series has models with 450 W, 520 W, 580 W and 620 W capacities, while P-AF series has models with 550 W, 650 W, 750 W and 850 W capacities. As you can see these two series don't have models with the same capacity, so it is easy to see if a particular model is from the PAF or from the P-AF series. Seventeam, however, will be launching soon a 650 W model within the P-AF series, which may create some confusion. Today we reviewed the currently most powerful model on the PAF series, ST-620PAF. Can it really deliver 620 W? Let's see.
