They manufacture a full range of power supplies, including 600, 700, 800 and 900 Watt models, and today we are looking at their highest rated product, the GX 1050W.
Now that we have taken an in-depth look at one of the most efficient offerings from Kingwin with the Lazer Platinum 550W power supply, we are taking a look at something a little more enthusiast related in terms of overall output this time. The unit on the test bench today is the Kingwin LZG-1000. It is a 1000W power supply capable of delivering power with 80Plus Gold efficiency.
The SilverStone Strider Plus is a power supply series with a full modular cabling, with models ranging from 500 W to 1,000 W. The 500 W and 600 W models have 80 Plus Bronze certification, while the 750 W, 850 W, and 1,000 W models have 80 Plus Silver certification. We've already reviewed the 750 W model, which received our Golden Award. Let's see if the more inexpensive 500 W model is also a good buy.
When I first saw the press release for the Dr.Power II, I thought that it gave the ability to get the power draw off certain lines. Well, let's just say it doesn't do that. Instead, the Dr.Power II is a power supply 'tester'. Of course, the sample came and as always, it's my job to cover it, so let's find out just how the Dr.Power II is when it comes to doing the task it has indeed been designed for. Looking at the Dr.Power II, it's a pretty simple looking device. The front has a screen that gives us the important information in regards to your power supply.
When you think of quality power supplies, a few names always spring to mind- Antec, Corsair and of course, Enermax. They are one of the more established companies, being around since 1990, and have made a reputation by consistently producing some of the finest power supplies on the market such as the Modu87+ we reviewed previously.
The 80 Plus Platinum certification is the next level in energy efficiency, promising 92% minimum efficiency at typical load (i.e., at half of the power supply's labeled power). The Enermax Platimax is one of the first power supply series carrying this new certification level to reach the market, with 600 W, 750 W, 850 W, 1,000 W, and 1,200 W versions. Let's see if it is worthwhile buying the 600 W model, which will be released in the U.S. in January 2012.
Thortech is a brand that I’m sure no one has heard of before and for good reason. Until recently, the Thortech team has been part of GeIL and has handled the R&D for their PSUs for over 15 years, however it is only recently that GeIL has taken the decision to launch a new series of PSUs under the subsidiary of Thortech. I am expecting this change in branding is a PR move that signifies a higher level of performance than what GeIL power supplies were offering. Being as this is a brand new series of power supply being launched under a new brand, we’re not quite sure what to expect from Thortech!
