Even though many enthusiasts have heard of Sunbeamtech before, less so are familiar with Tuniq. Today we are going to have a look at their product range with a review of the Potency 650W PSU. The Potency is a mid range product with very interesting specifications and Tuniq promises excellent overall performance.

Recently at Tech-Reviews we’ve been reviewing a lot of high wattage power supplies. We haven’t however looked at the lower range units. Luckily today though, we’ve been handed a Tuniq Potency 550W to review. Can it live up to the same performance standards as higher wattage units? Recently there have been lots of similar looking gaming style headsets released which quite frankly have all been the same. The headsets are either stereo headsets, or headsets pretending to offer 5.1 or even 7.1 surround sound. While all the companies producing these surround sound headsets will claim that they give you the full surround sound feel, it is at best, virtual and produced digitally. When you stop and think about it, does it seem possible for 5.1 surround sound to be played through 2 speakers? While it may not be truly possible they certainly give it a good go.

The Tiger 1200W not only performs well, but it has the looks and features to match. The unit is quiet, only when the temperature hits the mid 50 degree Celsius range and fully loaded does the fan really spin up, but even then it is bearable, and by no means loud. The finish on the power supply is also great, the cables also great and I have to say, despite the added bulk of XLR type connectors, I have to say I am a fan of them.

Topower is a traditional OEM manufacturer, being the real manufacturer behind units from brands like Tagan and OCZ (not all power supplies from OCZ are manufactured by Topower, though). They also sell power supplies using their own brand and today we are going to review their PowerBird 900 W unit, which uses a full modular cabling system and is based on a two-transformer design. Let's see whether this is a good unit or not.

Today we will have a look at their latest PowerBird 1100W PSU, a high performance modular unit. The PowerBird 1100W is designed to compete in the most demanding category of the computer industry market and appeal to the most hardcore of enthusiasts. The big question remains however, is it able to compete with other high end offerings such as the Corsair HX1000W?

From time to time, we like to buy power supplies below USD 30 to see how they stack up against more expensive models from better-known companies. The TiVECO TVPS450, which is also sold in the US as ePower TVPS450, is a 450 W power supply that costs only USD 20, with the manufacturer promising that it can deliver its labeled wattage at 50º C and 80% minimum efficiency. Is that really true? Let's find out.

500 watts is a popular segment these days. It's more than enough for powering an Ivy Bridge or Haswell CPU and a single mid-range or high-end graphics card. There's a lot of competition in the pricing in this segment. Spending money on a decent PSU is not a small part of the total price of building a capable PC system. For this reason manufacturers try to keep prices for their 500W PSUs as low as possible.
