The Antec HCP-850 High Current Pro Platinum Power Supply is an outstanding product. We haven't seen an Antec PSU in our labs for some time, but today we get acquainted with the High Current Pro HCP-850 Platinum 80 PLUS model.
The Antec HCP-850 Platinum is an 850 watt PSU carrying the 80 Plus Platinum rating. The Antec HCP-850 Platinum is fully modular featuring stealthy black sleeved cables. The fully modular cables include the first ever 20 + 8 pin ATX connector for future expansion (still 24-pin on motherboard side), as well as 16-pin connections to allow future connections. Connectors include six 4-pin Molex connections, nine 15-pin SATA power cables, one floppy cable, one 4+4 pin ATX/EPS connector, one 8-pin EPS 12V, six 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors, and one OC Link cables. The HCP-850 Platinum has four 12V rails to accommodate all of its various connectors; these rails can provide the full 850 watts of power and up to 40A on each rail.

Straight Power E8 400W und das Antec High Current Gamer HCG-400 sein, wobei wir weitere Neuzugänge wie das neue Enermax ErPro80+ eventuell auch noch berücksichtigen werden.

Wie bereits im letzten Test angekündigt, hat die Redaktion diesmal ein Exemplar aus der High Current Gamer Serie der Firma Antec auf dem Prüfstand. Dabei handelt es sich um den Kraftspender mit 520W und der Modellbezeichnung HCG-520. Außer diesem Netzteil mit einer Ausgangsleistung von 520W sind innerhalb dieser Serie auch Netzteile mit den Ausgangsleistungen 400W, 620W, 750W und 900W erhältlich.
Antec know that high end PSUs are not within the reach of everyone's budget though and so there are lower specification models in the family which have a more understated design with lower power rating and price. Today we have one of those models, the High Current Gamer 620w, attached to our test centre and will establish whether Antec have been able to maintain their high standards at the lower price point.
The 550-650W market of power supplies is highly competitive these days with it being the "sweet spot" for gaming systems. These "gaming power supplies" should have enough wattage to comfortably power most single and dual GPU systems with a relatively power hungry overclocked CPU and all the other parts required for a gaming system (multiple storage drives, lots of fans and so on).
