Today for review I've got another CPU Cooler from our friends at Thermaltake called the Frio. This cooler is aimed at those that like to overclock their CPUs. The Frio is fairly large but it performs very well especially when running on an overclocked CPU. It comes with two fans that have in-line speed controllers on them, and the cooler itself features five U-shaped heatpipes. I've put it up against my current CPU cooler, the Noctua NH-U12P on my Corei5 750 CPU running at both stock and overclocked speeds and I have to say that I am truly impressed by the performance of this cooler. So read on...

The Phenom 2 X4 975 Black Edition is the new high end model in AMD's four core CPU range and they are aiming it at the sub $200 price range for enthusiasts and gamers. Today we have one on our test bench and will see how it compares to the latest Intel CPUs as well as an existing AMD model in a selection of synthetic and real world tests which include Blu-Ray 3D, gaming and media conversion.

Today AMD announced three new platforms called Temash, Kabini and Richland. These promise improved energy-efficiency and higher performance, and add a number of features that are supposed to make our lives easier.

Another AMD processor reached our mailbox a week ago, it's the Phenom 2 905e which is supposed to be a mid range processor. You can get this for around 180$ so it's not to badly priced if the performance is decent. We are going to compare it vs the high end Phenom 2 955 and mid end 940 from AMD to see where we can place this processor performance wise.

The Intel 'Grizzly Pass' server was just recently released by Intel. Today we are going to put it through it's paces. We are going to run several Intel 710 series SSD's in a RAID 5 array and test the system as a web server with several different operating system configurations. We will also be looking at the performance of the new Intel Xeon E5-2660 LGA2011 processors! Join us as we take a look at the latest entry into the server world by Intel!

In a move that shocked many, Intel has buckled to the demands of mainstream consumers and has launched a couple unlocked processors for the LGA 1156 platform! The processors that are being announced today are the unlocked Intel Core i7-875K and Core i5-655K processors. Read on as we take the Core i7-875K processor for a test drive and overclock it up to 4.5GHz with just air cooling!

So, AMD has been having some difficulty in keeping up with Intel and their current generation of CPU. This is not to say that AMD does not have fast CPUs, it is just that they have only been as fast as Intel's last generation (unless you overclock them to the kilt).

The Intel I7-980x being reviewed today is one of those products coming onto the market that you know know is more of a 32nm victory lap rather than a product that is trying to leap-frog the competition. With nothing in sight that could even touch the Nehalem in terms of performance, the Gulftown adds to an impressive performance market lead that will not be superceded by anyone but themselves for some time to come.
