As we can see, Athlon II X2 250 can still compete with the E6300. So the rollout of new triple-core processors has consolidated AMD's positions in the market segment of below $100. But apparently this was not the only goal. Note the nearly identical results demonstrated by Athlon II X3 435 and Phenom II X3 710, the latter being more costly to manufacture.

Today AMD is releasing five new processors in their Phenom II & Athlon II lineups. Along with these new chips comes lower prices to existing products, most notably the Athlon II X4 630 (2.8 GHz) will replace the X4 620 (2.6 GHz) at the $99 retail price point! This means that AMD now has two quad core processors priced at $99 or less, and one quad core at only $119!

Without a doubt, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T performs adequately to its price and will be in demand. Positioning on a par with Intel Core i7-930 is completely justified. However, judging by specifications, we believe this CPU can demonstrate better results.

Today Intel aims to satisfy the needs of enthusiasts on a budget with the release of the Core i7-875K and Core i5-655K, two processors on Socket 1156 which feature unlocked multipliers.

Today we shall try to answer the following question. What's better: a triple-core CPU with 512KB L2 per core or a dual-core CPU with 1024KB L2 per core? On the one hand, the former has an additional core. On the other hand, each core of the latter has twice as much cache available. This isn't as obvious as it may seem.

At KitGuru we spend a lot of our time playing with high end hardware, and it can be disheartening for many readers. In the cold hard 'real world' not everyone can afford a Core i7 980X with SLI'd GTX480's and to be honest, for most people this is totally overkill anyway. Killer performance shouldn't cost a fortune and this is the focus of today's write up.

AMD has released another slew of processors to the market focused on faster clock speeds with a cheaper price tag. One of these processors is the dual core Phenom ™ II X2 560 Processor code named “Calisto” which runs at stock at 3.3GHz out of the box. This processor has plenty of headroom, performance, and a low price we show you why it's a good buy in our review.
