Ivy Bridge has been a Buzz word that has been tossed around the world, and one that has everyone in anticipation of just what the hell Intel has up their sleeves for the desktop environment, and finally the long awaited day has arrived where we can actually legally show off just what all the hype and hoopla was all about. Many sites have already violated NDA, which is a legal statement by Intel addressing the time and date of releasing their information to the public, but we held fast waiting for the actual stated deadline to arrive before breaking the news to you good folks. It sucks to be a legitimate player sometimes as that means towing the line even under pressure.
Today AMD launches a new generation APUs, which is their term for processors with integrated graphics card. The new chips, codenamed Trinity, are the successors to the current AMD A4, A6 and A8 Llano processors. Because the performance has been significantly improved, the new series is labeled A10. The message from AMD is clear, compared to the previous generation both CPU and GPU performance has increased while the energy consumption has decreased. This means better performance per watt, which in laptops should translate to improved battery life.
Over the last few weeks, AMD has adjusted the pricing of both the AMD FX-8150 Black Edition and the AMD FX-8120 Black Edition to make them more competitive against the Intel Core i5 2500K and 2400.

Today AMD launches the new Trinity APU lines based on the Piledriver architecture. We have in their latest A10-588K and A8-566K APU's for testing. GPU as well as CPu enhancements await end users with this new product line. The big question on everyones mind is "Does Trinity close the gap and finally provide a compelling argument to the Ivy Bridge CPU. There's no doubt that Intel retains the performance crown but the really compelling argument is in where AMD is headed.
