AMD's Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor represents a speed boost over the previous forerunner, the 955 Black Edition. The 3.4GHz quad-core Black Edition socket AM3 chip and is intended to compete against Intel's existing LGA775 quad-core processors, but the real question on everyone's mind is how it fare against Intel's upcoming Core i5 CPUs!?

Code named 'Thuban', the new 3.2GHz AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor introduces with it a dynamic overclocking technology called TurboCore. In typical computing situations AMD TurboCore will increase the speed of up to three of the Phenom II X6's CPU cores from 3.2GHz to 3.6GHz, while simultaneously increasing processor voltage and dropping the speed of the remaining three unloaded cores. The technology acts much like Intel TurboBoost and in benchmarks such as PCMark Vantage AMD TurboCore does result in a noticeable performance boost.

After using the AMD Trinity reference notebook we found it to be a very satisfying experience. AMD's new Piledriver-based Trinity APU delivers where it needs to and that is all one can ask of a mainstream processor. Sure, we wish AMD processors had a little more x86 muscle for when we need to render a video or crunch numbers, but...

For once Intel didn't drop a bomb on the desktop market with the refresh of the Haswell socket 1150 processor generation. The high end processor aka Devils Canyon, which should create some commotion will only be released beginning of June, till then we have to sit it out and wait. Intel however already released their Z97 chipset, which is a requirement to get the most out of the upcoming Devils Canyon processor. The Haswell and refresh line-up are fully Z87 and of course also Z97 compatible; time to explore what is new and what is not with Intel's latest Haswell refresh line-up...

Mid last year, AMD announced that they were going to be giving their FX line of CPUs a little boost of energy and a little face lift to rekindle their budget appeal and performance for the entry level markets. The FX line of CPUs, also known as Bulldozer, has always filled in the gap between entry level processing power and top performance with chips that are able to give performance on a budget.

Congratulations! If you're reading this article that means you are either trying to overclock your LGA 1156 platform for the first time or you already overclocked it but want to know more about how it is done and read if you can "enhance" your setup to reach that sweet point. The LGA1156 platform has been out for a while now, and it quickly got adopted by the users as the main performance platform thanks to the lower prices compared to the LGA 1366 while keeping the same performance. Intel launched 4 cores/8 threads processors (Core i5 and Core i7) based on Lynnfield's architecture, and after that we saw 2 cores/4 threads CPUs with Intel GMA HD graphics (Core i3 & Core i5) based on Clarkdale's technology. Thanks to a better and more mature technology, along with reduced manufacture's size, the entire LGA 1156 gamma is able to overclock in a very decent way within air-cooling conditions, and that's what we're analyzing today. Benchm! ark Reviews will teach you how to understand overclocking values while doing the process at the same time. After that, the Core i3, Core i5 and the powerful Core i7 processors will be deeply analyzed to check how the MHz increase versus heat, voltage and power consumption. Start your engines and have a look at our latest Intel LGA 1156 Overclocking Guide to setup your latest Core i3/i5/i7 CPU to the max!
