Intel have had a hell of a year, with little competition offered in the enthusiast sector. AMD’s Bulldozer chip looked promising, but sadly fell short of the mark, even with double the physical cores. The Core i7 2500k and 2600k have remained the enthusiast number 1 choice, and today we are looking at the 2600k update, the aptly named 2700k.

Everyone's wanted to trade up at times. Sure, you can get the 8oz steak for $15, but the 12oz steak is only $17.... Sometimes the choice can be as easy as calculating performance versus price, but other times it's worth to pay more if it will really satisfy your needs. The 3.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU is a dual-core chip based on the 45nm 'Wolfdale' core that falls into the upper end of family, supplanted only by the relatively expensive Core 2 Duo E8600.

The Intel Broadwell processor has a 14nm die, some microcode and memory controller changes as well as the addition of an L4 cache and the new Iris graphics processor. With a base frequency of 3.3 GHz we can’t consider it a speed bump since the Haswell 4770K has a frequency of 3.5 GHz.

Enter the AMD Athlon II X4 635 processor, a mainstream quad-core chip clocked at 2.9GHz and priced at just $120 bucks. Compatible with socket AM3 and AM2+ motherboards, the AMD Athlon II X4 635 is set to be the darling of media PC, home FTP server and budget-minded home PC builders.

Earlier this month we had the opportunity to visit AMD's Austin, Texas headquarters to preview their upcoming 'Brazos' development platform and actually got some hands-on testing with a Fusion APU system prior to its launch. Today, we bring you performance numbers on the 18W TDP Zacate APU called the E-350. At 1.60GHz this dual core processor might just impress you!

With the new lower price of the AMD Phenom II X6 1075T Hex-Core processor, it may just be the new leader in the battle for price versus performance. Follow us on our magic carpet ride as we put the AMD Phenom II X6 1075T Hex-Core processor through it's paces and compare it to several of our other processors. Just how well did it do? Read on to find out!

Kerne bei AMD CPUs zu reaktivieren ist eine feine Sache - wenn es denn funktioniert. Einige Hersteller warten neuerdings mit einem neuen Feature auf: Der "EC Firmware"-Funktion im BIOS.

Lets take a look at the highest-end CPU from AMD that is being released today, the FX-8350 (4 GHz), and compare it to its main competitor, the Core i5-3470 (3.2 GHz). We also included the Core i5-2500K (3.3 GHz), the FX-8150 (3.6 GHz), and the Phenom II X6 1100T (3.3 GHz) in the comparison.

We're checking out the new Core i7 3970X EE from Intel. The only thing probably more insane than its performance is its price tag. Intel's top-dog is in the house!

Today is NDA day for Intel's brand new Z97 platform. Sadly there will be no launch article on MadShrimps; simple reason is because we have experienced some issues with the current Haswell refresh processors on our Z97 testbeds. MadShrimps has tested Z97 with the 4770K and did a comparison between Z87 and 297. That data is ready and was ready to be published, however the outcome we got when briefly testing the i7 4790 from the brand new refresh range is concerning to say the least. Time for a brief explanation of what happened today...
