Trinity vs. Ivy Bridge im GPU-Test AMD und Intel haben in letzter Zeit viel Wert auf die in einen Prozessor integrierte Grafikeinheit gelegt. Was für Fortschritte kann Trinity diesbezüglich machen?

Who said all good things come in 3 fold ? Today we introduce Intel's youngest offering in the SnB-e lineup. The i7-3820 is not a hexacore like it's two bigger brothers ; the 3930K and 3960X. But a Quadcore version for the socket 2011 platform. This allows Intel to launch it at a far more affordable price then the two previous mentioned socket 2011 models. Thus making the i7-3820 maybe a perfect replacement CPU for the socket 1366 Bloomfield CPU's. But the competition is fierce, not from AMD, but within Intel's own lineup. What has this i7-3820 more to offer then eg a similar priced 2600K SnB ? After a brief introduction about this i7-3820 we are continuing straight to the results to spot any noteworthy performance differences.

It's no secret that the X79 platform was launching today; it's no secret that the top of the line processor for the platform is the i7 3960X Extreme Edition, and it's no secret that the platform supports Quad Channel RAM. Like any launch, there's a lot of things we know about the product prior to the release of it.

This was one of the most eagerly awaited releases at the latest CeBIT show 2010. Sadly for the Shrimps reviewers we didn't see much Thuban or GTX 480 in real life at the fare. But now finally AMD's new core is amongst us. AMD released 2 brand new CPUs: the 6 core 1055T model running at 2.8Ghz and the flagship the 1090T version at 3.2Ghz with unlocked multiplier. Time to explore how it performs compared to the older 4-core as well as Intel i7 competition.

In our video card benchmarks we run a $1,000 980X at 4.2GHz and while we understand that it's not a CPU most people use, there's a logical reason behind it. When we benchmark cards we want to make sure that we don't hit a CPU limitation and limit the maximum performance of a possible setup. So, to make sure that doesn't happen, we overclock our CPU as much as possible. Today, though, we're going to mix it up a bit. Instead of testing different video cards, we'll be looking at our 980X at a number of different speeds.

Back in the days of the Conroe CPUs, I compared Intel to a charging rhino. They are a big company that has a lot of weight and momentum behind them. Often there are times it can be hard for them to change direction, but once they are on a course they can build up quite the momentum. If you have ever seen a rhino charge and hit something squarely (even on TV), you will also know they can have quite an impact. Ever since the launch of Conroe Intel has been building up momentum behind their CPU designs and just like that rhino they have hit the market with quite an impact. On the heels of Conroe came Nehalem, then Lynnfield, then Clarkdale, and now we have a new name to drop on the market.

AMD have been focussing on their new products with the likes of Bulldozer and the whole Fusion range as of late but haven't forgotten about the users wanting more from an already current system.

The release of Intel’s second generation of Core Processors has been a hot topic of conversion among the enthusiast audience now for many months. They have a total of twenty nine new chips reaching retail and today KitGuru will be looking at the i5-2500k and the i7-2600k, both of which have fully unlocked cores.
